Saturday, November 30, 2013. Review: New Balance RC1400. In search of a good speed work shoe/semi-racing flat, I picked up a pair of the New Balance RC1400s. I've been using them for intervals on the local track and for 5k and 10k road races. The sole is dense rubber with minimal grip. It can get a little slick in the rain, but it great for most all other conditions. After banishing my Boston 4s to walking around shoe duty, I was interested to try the new adidas Supernova Glide 6. When I first put them on, I immediately noticed the comfort! The insole and upper were very comfortable and provided some nice support without being restricting. The toe box was a little narrow, but is soft enough that is doesn't squish your toes.
