The Musings of a Former Pastor (by ryan couch)
Who am I | Ryan Couch
https://ryancouch.wordpress.com/mystory
The Musings of a Sinner and Saint. I’m a sinner and saint. I was a pastor for many years. I’m now a business man and a seminary student. I used to know a lot. Now I’m not sure what I know. My favorite theologian is Martin Luther and I love talking about law and gospel. I even like to pretend I understand Greek philosophy. I’ve been married for almost 19 years, and I have 2 great kids. The Musings of a Sinner and Saint. A broken man in need of Jesus. One of the most destructive things we can do to another person is to look down on them in judgment and scorn; it’s demeaning and dehumanizing. It’s something we all do almost on a daily basis however. So how do we stop? December 2, 2015. Lipstick on a Pig. Very few Protestants argue for man’s good works having anything to do with justification but many will argue vehemently for their involvement in a Christian’s holiness. 8220;I have been ...

Thursday, October 29, 2009. Fall in Vancouver = lots of leaves. Fall is here which means apple: bread, pancakes, butter, sauce, cider, and pie. The Parla Family: Berry Picking
http://theparlafamily.blogspot.com/2010/07/berry-picking.html
Friday, July 30, 2010. The month of July in Clark County is berry picking season! We found a farm 10 minutes from our house with u-pick organic blues and raspberries. We rested Rose under a nice shady bush as we picked. Samantha ate at least 5 berries for every 1 that she put in the bucket. Posted by The Parlas. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Okie Preacher: November 2010
http://okiepreacher.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Monday, November 29, 2010. A Manger Without a Baby, By Lilly Green. I posted this last year at Christmas, but am doing it again because it is a wonderful testimony:. Here are Lilly's own words:. The baby squirmed and punched, kicked, and danced. I massaged hands and feet that fluidly traveled across my abdomen, pressing tight under ribs, giving me indigestion. The mountain of head and back rose, fell, and shifted. I had always wanted to be a mother, and now I was. 8221; And so we were to be. By the time ...

Okie Preacher: Sunday Quotes
http://okiepreacher.blogspot.com/2011/07/sunday-quotes.html
Sunday, July 3, 2011. So often we have a kind of vague, wistful longing that the promises of Jesus should be true. The only way really to enter into them is to believe them with the clutching intensity of a drowning man. - William Barclay. Unfathomable oceans of grace are in Christ for you. Dive and dive again, you will never come to the bottom of these depths. How many millions of dazzling pearls and gems are at this moment hid in the deep recesses of the ocean caves. - Robert Murray M'Cheyne. Ephesians...
Okie Preacher: August 2010
http://okiepreacher.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 29, 2010. For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of our trouble which came to us in Asia: that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life. Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead,. Who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us. Wednesday, August 25, 2010. Sunday, August 22, 2010. In closing his letter to...
Okie Preacher: June 2010

Wednesday, June 30, 2010. The True Source of Help. I will lift up my eyes to the hills —. From whence comes my help? My help comes from the LORD,. Who made heaven and earth.". When I take my eyes off of the Lord, its easy to lose perspective. I am overwhelmed so easily. Things seem so difficult and impossible; and for me they are! However, when I put my eyes back on Jesus, and His power, things gain their proper perspective. Jesus can take it; He can deal with it, no matter what it is. I'm so glad! And c...

The Investment of Life. We are living in a difficult season. But, you don’t need me to tell you that. You’ve been given precious promises just as I, watched them come oh-so-close to fulfillment and then seem to drift away beyond the sea of confusion and trouble. You’ve watched as friends and loved ones have gone in what seems like every direction emotionally, geographically, as well as spiritually and, often sadly, theologically. Darkness will cover the nations, and deep darkness the peoples. Yes, a blea...

Now with 20% Less Meat! July 12, 2015. I went and made another pendant this weekend. I have lots of women in my life that have requested custom jewelry, so I figured I better get on it! I have lots of silver, a few gems, and just a bit of gold laying around and so I no longer have excuses not to make something. I made this using all the techniques I learned in my class but I did my own design instead of copying off of a design my teacher, Poppy. June 8, 2015. She and my brother were on a trip out of town...
