Crowthorne was a hamlet until Wellington College was opened in 1859 to educate the sons of British Army officers. (A tidbit I just learned, a hamlet is a rural settlement too small to have it's own church.). In 1863 Broadmoor Hospital for the Criminally Insane made its debut. Broadmoor Hospital Female Patient 1956. I don't want to die in Crowthorne. Thomas Cowan, RIP.

We went to the service at the Bath Abbey, which I loved because there was a choir of men and boys. I will miss Church of England choirs. This is an example of something rarely seen. Two years ago when we started this adventure, we moved our very aged kitty cats to new homes. Rosa (16) into the great beyond and Rubbe (17) to the home of a lovely woman who devotes herself to caring for elderly kitties. At that point, two years seemed like forever, so I promised the boys they could get pets when we returned to our home in Tucson. Ay how time flies!
