I have to keep reminding myself that it was just 48 hours ago that I first got to see a heavily sedated Sky post-surgery in the ICU. Hour by hour, day by day, she continues to improve. As the haze of anesthesia slowly lifts, the Sky we all know and love begins to emerge. Lots of smiles today. Even a couple of laughs. Today was a very good day. The Girl With Left-Side Weakness got up and walked.

But perhaps I’m burying the lead: On Friday, we received a call from the UCSF Tumor Board. This was the call we were anxiously waiting for. The results of the biopsy would dictate Sky’s next step in treatment. Her biggest fear was that they would recommend chemo AND radiation, so we were hoping for some glimmer of good news.
