http://scookiereviews.blogspot.com/2015/05/nest-pitch-results-clearing.html
Saturday, 16 May 2015. Nest Pitch Results: The Clearing. Nest Pitch is over, and wow, I really wasn't expected the results. I'm ecstatic to announce that Team Sugar Rush cleared up the contest! Not only did I receive four agent requests, I got to meet loads of lovely, supportive authors. Can't wait to read all your books, guys. If you'd like to read the opening 300 words of THE CLEARING, here's a link to the blog of my wonderful mentor, Louise Gornall. My whole manuscript is a lot stronger, thanks to her.

Scookie Reviews: July 2015
http://scookiereviews.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 29 July 2015. Book Review: Escape From Witchwood Hollow. Escape From Witchwood Hollow. Intriguing but not thrilling. Everyone in Arnn - a small farming town with more legends than residents - knows the story of Witchwood Hollow: if you venture into the whispering forest, the witch will trap your soul among the shadowed trees. There were three main perspectives, each with different stories surrounding the haunted Witchwood Hollow. Next up is the tale of a murderous witch from 1670. Lady Cli...

Scookie Reviews: February 2015
http://scookiereviews.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, 28 February 2015. Book Review: Naomi Grim. Naomi Grim by Tiffany Nicole Smith. You’ll probably enjoy it, but it is flawed. The assignment:Collect lifestones from humans after they die. Rebellious, sixteen-year-old Naomi craves a normal life, but unfortunately, she's a Grim by birth. That's right, she sees dead people and hoards their living essence in a stone. Not a fun occupation. Only one thing is for certain- Naomi has a grim knack for finding trouble and she's about to break all the rules.

Scookie Reviews: March 2015
http://scookiereviews.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Monday, 30 March 2015. This week I’ve had the privilege of reading the opening to 11 self-published novels. In at least 8 of them, I spotted incorrect use of semicolons. It was such an issue that I decided not to factor it into my selection. But we need to talk! I love semicolons. I think they can turn a good line into a powerful punch. However, incorrect usage seems to be a huge problem for aspiring authors and indie authors alike. I’ll come out and say it too, they look pretentious when overused&...

Saturday, 31 January 2015. If you're craving something a bit wacky. Throw your cats out the window, everyone, Insanity. Most of this book is nonsensical. If you find a lack of logic frustrating, step away from the book before you get in too deep. But if you love a mystery based adventure with zany characters and endless possibilities, then come take your first steps into Alice Wonder’s life. Ah, that long middle section. Has its fair share of twists and turns, unsolved mysteries, and shocking reveals so ...

Scookie Reviews: SP Book Review: Frostbitten
http://scookiereviews.blogspot.com/2015/05/sp-book-review-frostbitten.html
Monday, 25 May 2015. SP Book Review: Frostbitten. If you can get into it, you won’t want to put it down. Great beauty hides dark secrets. Can Anastasia and Frost’s love really overcome anything, or are their fates much darker? Lots of brilliant sections. Uneven pace. Exposition, passive voice etc. Excellent twists, but could shuffle things around to improve pace and flow. World and Concepts: 5. A good mix, well-defined, relatable. Beautiful cover. No typos. Writing style tells more than shows. Around thr...

Scookie Reviews: What I learned from Nest Pitch 2015
http://scookiereviews.blogspot.com/2015/05/what-i-learned-from-nest-pitch-2015.html
Friday, 22 May 2015. What I learned from Nest Pitch 2015. Nest Pitch has taught me so much writing. Here are a few thing's I learned from polishing up my first 300 words and taking part in the Nest Pitch:. Your openings matters a lot. If your story kicks off in chapter two, or only grabs a reader's attention half way through chapter one, then you might be giving potential readers too much time to put the book down. One idea per sentence. Take a unique angle. Value strong writing over everything else.
