Just installed ubuntu 13.10 64-bit on my laptop using VMWare Workstation and realized that it was dead slow. Here is my settings:. RAM allocation : 16 GB. Processor allocation : 2 2 = 4. Disk allocation : 35GB (FULL). Even with this setup, it was slow. So tried the following. Read that VMWare tools help speed it up - did not. Moved back to gnome - did not work.
