The Tale of the nb Abigail Jenna and her travels around the canal network. Monday, June 25, 2012. Entry into Bath is through a couple of small tunnels with the outer face being nicely decorated. There is a small boatyard between the then and its bit of a pain sometimes with the boats sticking out at the bridge entrace. The first of the locks down to the Avon. Not sure what this might have been in the past but a bit on the small size for the lockies cottage. Humane Society advert on the side. Modern art&#...

The Tale of the nb Abigail Jenna and her travels around the canal network. Monday, May 27, 2013. At the top of Johnson Locks I discover that the diesel return line has come loose and four or five litres of derv have ended up in the sump. The problem is the joint is a piece of rubber pipe joined to a brass pressure joint. Tried several methods to rejoin it but ended up repeating the original method. Hopefully I can get a permanent repair done when I get back to Thorne. Swing bridges - no comment! It has t...

The Tale of the nb Abigail Jenna and her travels around the canal network. Friday, August 10, 2012. On the way there have been several deserted medieval villages. This is one of them. I wonder if it was plague or sheep that got the villagers moved on. Not sure what this boat owner thinks he is going to get away with. A more obvious alteration to a licence is yet to be seen. Apart maybe from my father who once used a Guinness bottle label as a tax disc on the car in the early fifties :-). Now thats what I...

The Tale of the nb Abigail Jenna and her travels around the canal network. Monday, November 28, 2011. Took two of Lees grandchildren down to see the seals at Donna Nook. The first thing that is seen is a scattering of seals along the foreshore. Not sure what will the seen when the tides in. Maybe they all move further up towards the dunes. There are big ones . There is a small stream running along the edge of the sand dunes and a number of the seals seem to take great joy in bathing in it. On the towpath...

http://nbabigailjenna.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
The Tale of the nb Abigail Jenna and her travels around the canal network. Sunday, March 31, 2013. The problem with Thorne was that the ducks are getting rather blase about people and narrowboats and have started to move onboard when you aren't looking. A really nice day and too good to stay put so we head off for Bramwith. Trundle through Stainforth and past the slag heaps that slipped over the railway lines. Didn't stop at the pub either. At long last we are away. It took a couple of goes to get mo...

The Tale of the nb Abigail Jenna and her travels around the canal network. Tuesday, August 23, 2011. I must admit to Sprotbrough being one of the nicest mooring in the area. It all very well mooring in Asda carpark but for peace and quiet it takes a lot of beating. The view from the bridge back towards the lock. Its not far up to the shops and milk and papers. Workboats looking sad for being stuck here :-). There are well set up hides on the outskirts of the lakes. In a green tunnel that goes on for ages.

The Tale of the nb Abigail Jenna and her travels around the canal network. Friday, February 24, 2012. Early start for trip to Taj Mahal. Very cold in the taxi and off to one side we saw several times frost in the ditches. Loads of small lorries. With the distances involved one wonders why there aren’t more articulated ones abut. Stopped after an hour to let driver have a cuppa. The usual mixture of loads on the road. Getting used to the loading of lorries. The gate which is the entrace to the grounds.

The Tale of the nb Abigail Jenna and her travels around the canal network. Saturday, December 31, 2011. But some great sadness. Happy New Year to you all. I have had a really lucky year and spent time with all my loved ones. These two are the best tonic that anyone could ever want. Sadly I never see enough of them and apart from actually moving in it is never to be :-). Bit of luck for Karyn :-). Posted by Ifor Barton. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The Tale of the nb Abigail Jenna and her travels around the canal network. Tuesday, October 11, 2011. And we are off. The tide is at 9.30am and there is another boat coming with us. Lots of weed coming with us :-). The Trent is very calm and the other boat is soon in front but stays in sight as he is an anti-Trent as a place to enjoy. Not long and its halfway with the water coming over the gates at West Stockwith. Heading for the centre span of the town bridge. Just outside Gainsborough and. Plenty of st...
