One Story at a Time. May 11, 2015. April 11, 2016. The original intention of the Relighting Us website was to provide a venue for a therapeutic approach to overcoming the heartache of a loss. Specifically, a spouse, or a close person. It centers on the therapeutic use of restoring, in story form, fulfillment that took place in the past. As I moved deeper into its development, I became aware of its becoming an expanding process, and as such, is still evolving. The key word here is process. I am not yet he...

One Story at a Time. Goodbye – Hello. November 14, 2016. This is a 68 year memoir. Actually, the 68 years are the interval between two opposing stories. Tokyo, the main city of Japan, and the home of their sacred Emperor was our objective and our staging area in the US was Camp Cook, where we were to be reassembled and scheduled for our invasion mission in November of 1945. Finally, in early 1946, the Army decided to cut us troublemakers loose and sent me back to Fort Dix to be discharged. While ther...

Keep It Simple - Relighting Us

One Story at a Time. Some Words About Words. Words are like the power in a kiss. In fact words are power, and kiss is how to use them. Allow me to metaphorically define what that means. First, writing a story, keep the euphemism KISS. In mind. Here`s what KISS. Second, the power that goes to the lights we are relighting originates in our memories. The memories are already in us. Use them wisely. Everyone can write. Just choose your destination, and then describe how you got there KISS. You Are a Story.

Purpose of Relighting Us

One Story at a Time. Our Purpose: To Share Memories. A Nutshell View of the Website – writing to share memoirs. To relight elements of joy caused by the loss of a dear one. To participate in that process. To, like Thomas Edison, turn an idea into a light. To accomplish it, like Edison, from thought to physical form. To revisit joyful memories with someone who was there. To physically transfer those events from the past to the present. To do that by writing them up. To enjoy that precious relighting.

He Ain't Heavy - Relighting Us

One Story at a Time. He Ain’t Heavy. November 14, 2016. November 14, 2016. This a memoir developed from a recent experience in 2014. It has a few premises, which are topics not dealt with here, but suffice to say they deal with fatherhood. Specifically, a missed fatherhood. I got the title by giving a nod to the title of famous story of Father Flannigan and his Boys Town. I changed it slightly to read: He Ain’t Heavy Brother, He’s my father. Wouldn’t you know it? I immediately phoned him and we began a m...

Steps - Relighting Us

One Story at a Time. What do you mean support? Who is your best supporter? The person inside of you. How do you get to know that person? By living. Deep down, you know who you are. That all sounds so simple. Well it is. And simple is where we learn. All learning begins with simple elements. The problem is, we soon get overwhelmed with the details, and can’t sort out the useful (good) from the useless (bad). We deal with this by having and engaging other supporters. So what’s so important about supporters?
