ACorgiHouse: October 2014
http://corgihouse.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
A blog committed to helping me organize my thoughts, activities (mostly sewing) and get some kind of structure in my crazy, corgi ridden household! And a place to do a little free range thinking in an otherwise rather ordinary world. Sunday, October 19, 2014. But oh, so useful for many things! Last Thanksgiving, I went to visit some friends. One of their other guests was carrying a bag that was really cute, and my first question was "did you make it? And my friend and I quickly located it on Ravelry.

Madame Sew-and-Sew: Tutorials

My adventures in sewing. I love working with bias tape! Many times I will eliminate neck facings in favor of bias trim, because it's so fun to work with. This method of creating bias tape uses a square of fabric, and is quicker than cutting individual strips and piecing them together. Determine the size of your square:. Finished length x Finished width (before folding) = Area. Square root of area = one side of square. The length AB or BC will be the length you determined in step 1. Join two non-bias edge...

Madame Sew-and-Sew: September 2014
http://madamesewandsew.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
My adventures in sewing. Tuesday, September 30, 2014. The Symphony Dress Begins. I have an admission: I'm a little lonely now that my daughter has moved into the dorms. My husband and son are good company, but my daughter shares many of my interests, and added so much vitality to our home. I also missed sewing for her. Not for long: she needs a gown for the university orchestra. We really liked a RTW dress that she wore for high school orchestra, but a full length, all black gown is now required. Well, o...

Madame Sew-and-Sew: Vogue 8648: "The Couture Dress"
http://madamesewandsew.blogspot.com/2013/11/vogue-8648-couture-dress.html
My adventures in sewing. Monday, November 4, 2013. Vogue 8648: "The Couture Dress". I spent so much of my life completing Vogue 8648, with "couture" techniques, I feel that it should be documented. Following is a post-mortem analysis of the project. Vogue 8648, in blue silk. Little brother's super soaker lying in wait. First, the pattern. Vogue 8648 is not a complicated pattern. Although there are many. Vertical stays along midriff seams to counteract stretching. Believe this is Oscar de la Renta. The to...

Madame Sew-and-Sew: June 2015
http://madamesewandsew.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
My adventures in sewing. Monday, June 8, 2015. A Long Dry Patch Interrupted by Vogue 8793. My first sewing project of the year was replacing the zipper. In my step-father's "Squall" jacket from the 1980s. Early in the spring, I finally started a muslin of a sport coat that my husband had hinted about for some time. After a couple of fittings, it still hangs on my dress form. I lost interest after he came home from Hong Kong with a mini-wardrobe custom made for him in one day. After hours experimenting on...

The Rucci Suit, part 1 (Vogue 1437) – Sewing, Cooking, Gardening
https://suzannemcdonald.wordpress.com/2016/10/01/the-rucci-suit-part-1-vogue-1437
Sewing, Cooking, Gardening. Indulging the creative side. The Rucci Suit, part 1 (Vogue 1437). October 1, 2016. This suit caught my eye when it was first released. I kept waiting and waiting for my fave on line fabric retailers to offer the fabric I had in mind, and now a year has passed! I finally found what I wanted (though paid dearly). I love the look of this suit – refreshingly modern. I’ll be posting as I complete the ensemble, and I started with the easiest piece, the top. The hem hangs evenly on me.
