Sew Shy

Tuesday, March 5, 2013. Simplicity 3789 / 3990 (Khaliah Ali - Misses Shirts). This was actually sewn over a year (maybe even two) ago, but after wearing it once I decided I didn't like it. So it hung, wrinkled from the dryer and dejected in my closet. until recently. I've gained weight in the last two months and needed more roomy tops for work. This now actually looks decent on me, haha! I'm thinking of making more. I used a quilting cotton from Joann's which is holding up well and irons beautifully.

Sew Shy: November 2009

http://sewshy.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

Wednesday, November 25, 2009. I realized recently that I haven't been good about writing pattern reviews on the PR site for the garments I've created. Since I'm not sewing, I figured I can at least make progress by writing my reviews, so I'll try to get those done this weekend. In the meantime - my usual filler - nail pics. I've had this combo on since Thursday night, and it's really stayed put! Please bear with the cell phone pictures. I'm just not ready to purchase a new camera yet.). Of course, I coul...

Sew Shy: Oh my!

http://sewshy.blogspot.com/2011/03/oh-my.html

Thursday, March 10, 2011. I've certainly let this poor blog languish while concentrating on my nail polish one, haven't I? It's been a year since I last posted. I can't promise I'll be back as I'm still working up the mojo to deal with sewing again. I just got too discouraged last year. March 10, 2011 at 8:39 PM. The mojo is there some where :) Glad to hear from you. March 21, 2011 at 7:44 AM. Ive missed you my friend. August 24, 2011 at 9:18 PM. March 18, 2012 at 12:01 PM. View my complete profile.

Sew Shy: August 2009

http://sewshy.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Monday, August 17, 2009. What I've been up to. Where have I been? Out of town part of the time. I was a bridesmaid at a friend's wedding in Houston. Although we had a lot to do and didn't get enough sleep, we had an amazing time. These are friends from way back in our grade school days in Nigeria - some I've known since 1st grade. It was our first time being all together since we graduated high school - 14 years ago! Here I am on bridesmaid duty (pic taken by a friend on fb). I made the following changes:.

Sew Shy: I'm back!

http://sewshy.blogspot.com/2009/11/im-back.html

Tuesday, November 10, 2009. I've been back for a few weeks now, but just was not in the mood to blog (or sew even! During that time, my hubby got strep throat, and a week and a half later (last Thursday) I also got it. Mine was caught just in time, however, so I didn't have to suffer like he did - he had been misdiagnosed as having the flu, and suffered fevers, chills, and the painful throat for over a week before being properly diagnosed and put on an antibiotic. Poor sweetie. But will post once I do.

The Month (or Two) of Pants: Finished on January 30th

http://themonthofpants.blogspot.com/2010/02/finished-on-january-30th.html

The Month (or Two) of Pants. Tuesday, February 2, 2010. Finished on January 30th. As I mentioned before, I had committed to making three more pairs of pants in January for the Pants Challenge. Well, I only got one pair finished, that's sewing life for you. I finished the wool blend tweed pair last night after a little tweaking, serging. February 2, 2010 at 11:34 AM. Great fit and awesome fabric. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Finished on January 30th.

The Month (or Two) of Pants: Burda 1/2006-108

http://themonthofpants.blogspot.com/2010/01/burda-12006-108.html

The Month (or Two) of Pants. Sunday, January 31, 2010. Today is the last day of the month and I finished the wearable muslin I intended to. No seam was serged to make it quicker. I used half of a duvet cover to make the pants. It is obvious I should have made the flat bottom alteration. Now I know I need to do that right away. Should I add the back pockets? I like the pattern and think I'm going to wear these pants a lot when it gets warmer. I am so glad I took this challenge! January 31, 2010 at 8:53 AM.

The Month (or Two) of Pants: S2860: Version 1

http://themonthofpants.blogspot.com/2010/01/s2860-version-1.html

The Month (or Two) of Pants. Sunday, January 24, 2010. I finished the first pair of Simplicity 2860. My thoughts? Meh I cut and sewed a straight 16 curvy. The legs were way too full and I had a lot of bunching at the front crotch. In the end, I ended up removing the fullness by taking larger seam allowances on both the in and out seams. Here is the result:. January 24, 2010 at 10:25 AM. January 24, 2010 at 11:35 AM. Very close. Use muslin for the next try so that the pattern flaws are move obvious.

The Month (or Two) of Pants: December 2009

http://themonthofpants.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

The Month (or Two) of Pants. Thursday, December 31, 2009. I finally have pictures of both the muslin and garment (near completion). There are some wrinkles in the front of the garment that I didn't see in the muslin. Any ideas? Sorry for the photo quality. I have a love-hate relationship with Photoshop.). My first pair of pant for the MOP sew along.I used Kwiksew 3625. Please check my blog. Here are some pictures. If you look at the thigh very well , you can see what am talking about.Frustrating. The Month (or Two) of Pants: Better late than never?

http://themonthofpants.blogspot.com/2010/03/better-late-than-never.html

The Month (or Two) of Pants. Sunday, March 28, 2010. Better late than never? I finally finished the pants that I wanted to make in December. I thought that joining this sewing group would give me a good push to actually make the pants but I spent most of the two months of pants making muslins! These are Burda Magazine's 07-2009-102. The left pair and center pair are gray stretch wool, and the right pair is black stretch wool that looks and behaves like a doubleknit. March 28, 2010 at 4:27 PM.

http://themonthofpants.blogspot.com/2010/01/mop-2.html

The Month (or Two) of Pants. Saturday, January 16, 2010. Here is my second pant for the sew-along, I used the same Kwiksew pattern. But with little modification. I added 5/8" to the sides, used a stretchy fabric and viola. got the right fit. I really love theseversion better than the first one, very comfortable and fits perfectly .Here are some pixs. Please check out my blog. Wish you all a lovely weekend. January 16, 2010 at 10:17 AM. The Month (or Two) of Pants: Jeans muslin Burda 12/98-121

http://themonthofpants.blogspot.com/2010/01/jeans-muslin-burda-1298-121.html

The Month (or Two) of Pants. Wednesday, January 20, 2010. Jeans muslin Burda 12/98-121. Finally a new muslin! I liked the picture but the muslin looks very different on me. Ugh, that's exactly the thing I should avoid - narrow legs. I get accented saddlebags in these. There is a lot to do to fix the pattern. The back should be taken in a lot. Then, I don't know if to lower the front or add 1,5 cm to the back to even them before I add the waistband. What do you think? Until then I wish you happy sewing!

Aber auch, weil ich die freie Zeit neben dem Nähen noch sehr gern in der Küche verbringe. Dort kann man nämlich auch wunderbar kreativ sein und seinen Ideen freien Lauf lassen.
