History - The Sheepheid Inn
http://www.sheepheid.co.uk/history
History - The Sheepheid Inn. Scotland’s oldest surviving public house. Est. 1360. Why’s it called the Sheep Heid? This head was preserved at the inn until the late 19th century when an impecunious landlord sold it at auction. Thankfully before he did so he had the foresight to have a copy made (albeit with lesser value adornments) which resides behind the bar still (See picture above left). The tavern at Duddingston has been at the heart of its community for centuries. The 18th Century Kirk Session recor...

That City on the Firth of Forth: November 2009

That City on the Firth of Forth. Two Canadians and their dog have adventures in Edinburgh. Friday, 20 November 2009. The other evening, Alette and I went to Queen's Hall to watch. The Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers. It was a great performance, but also presented a number of interesting connections for me. As a performance, it was quite similar to Stomp. But there were other connections for me as well. Complementing the drumming was also some very good dance performance by Lale Sayoko. They serve from kegs, rath...

The Dandroid Chronicles: Travels with Charley
http://thedandroidchronicles.blogspot.com/2012/01/travels-with-charley.html
Thursday, January 12, 2012. Ok, so I haven't actually travelled with anyone named Charley, especially recently. In fact, I can only think of one Charlie known to me, and we've never spent any amount of time exploring the world. For those fans of travel literature, you may recognize this as the title of a 1960's John Steinbeck. So why the allusion to such a work? The following day found us up early enough and out exploring the turbid waters of Loch Ness! Now we were there on a windy day, but because of th...

The Dandroid Chronicles: January 2012
http://thedandroidchronicles.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 17, 2012. Travels with Charley Part 2. So where did I leave off? Oh yeah, we were on the plane to our second destination.(those are drumroll dots) Barcelona, Spain! The home of Catalan, Tapas and the 1992 Summer Olympics! 3: Spanish - Seems pretty self-evident right, being in Spain? That is Barcelona. Again, this has a beauty of its own, but left me feeling a bit dazed and confused, much like opening a bag of mixed candies when what you really wanted was a rich, dark chocolate bar...

Concerns of a shepherd's heart. Tuesday, August 17, 2010. In the almost twenty years of marriage to my bride, we've never really had a regular "date night". nothing against a scheduled "date night" alone but it just hasn't seemed to fit with us as such. instead we try to nurture our relationship in other ways through our daily living of life (much like this blogger did when her regular date night concept wasn't going to fit the schedule. Posted by Sheep Heart @ 1:39 PM. Tuesday, October 26, 2004. I'm fin...
Sheep Go To Heaven
Sheep Go To Heaven. Two years ago, when I was blogging during Advent, I was struck by how materialistic I found myself around Christmas. A lack or scarcity (even a relative one) of, well, stuff. Certainly makes me think about stuff in a different way. There were just more times during a day or week living in Nicaragua where I would think "it sure would be nice if I had." compared to when I lived in the United States. The church we work with here, would also be very much appreciated. What can I return to ...
