Quiet in the madness. Leaving La Ville de Québec. August 1, 2014. Despite the touristy shops in Old Québec, I still feel giddy when I walk through these streets. This is a picturesque park very close to where I live that stretches along the St. Charles River. I was SO happy to discover that this was the very place Jacques Cartier had set up the cross – thereby claiming Stadacona (present day Québec)! The teacher part of me is geeking out. Leaving a place that has left an impression on me is never easy.

You know that when your shopping purchases shift from clothes, bags, and shoes to specialized honey, coffee, and antique teacups, it might be a sign of nesting. Oh and a kitchen towel. I also bought a lovely kitchen towel today. I didn’t plan on it, but it happened. Am I boring you yet? When did I turn 65? Maybe But you should see the towel. It’s so pretty. I’m learning by trial and error and it is a lot of fun! I painted this quite quickly – I’m happy with how it turned out. Apart from the Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum is one of my favourite places in Rome. It was a scorching hot day, but beautiful architecture makes the heat more bearable. The famous duomo of Florence!
