Evidently, they are ill suited for westerners (seeing as I look like an alien) but fun nonetheless. Had a mad ball with my lovely friend Mao tonight! May Term in Japan. June 4, 2013. We went to this huge parade/festival in Kanazawa. THE BATON TWIRLERS WERE AMAZING! There were so many of them and they maintained really good synchronization. On top of that, they did stellar tricks (eg: arials and suicides) while keeping in harmony with one another. I was thoroughly impressed. This picture is of a fireman dance ritual. Risky business. May Term in Japan. May 26, 2013. Asako’s family took me to see the hot springs of Hakone and it was quite riveting to behold! There was a strong sulfur smell accompanying the volcanic activity but the view was stunning. We got to eat black-shelled eggs that were hard boiled in hot springs (eating them supposedly adds 7 years to your life) and egg flavored ice-cream (surprisingly good). W H A T →.
