It’s hard to believe it’s been almost a year since Skye’s treatments for melanoma started. While the old saying, “time flies when you’re having fun” certainly does not apply to this situation, the day that seemed like it would never arrive is now suddenly here. I only have 3 Interferon shots left! Had a great time with the fam in AZ. Gettin' some much-needed R and R this week. I've only got 13 more Interferon shots left! I'm leaving for AZ in 3 days! Ready for some warm weather. Only 6 more weeks of shots left! Good appt. with my oncologist yesterday. Blood work is good. Thumbs up from Dr. Sriratana. Friday, February 23, 2007. One Year Ago Today. As you well know, the posts on this blog have been few and far between in recent months. Skye's new eye is doing just fine. Life goes on. We'll be wrapping up this blog in the very near future, but please check back within the next week or so for the final "sign-off". Following a retinal detachment in December, 2003, Skye endured 7 operations on her left eye, the 7th being enucleation, or removal, of the eye due to multiple complications. After 2 months of recuperation and healing following the enucleation, Skye was fitted for a prosthetic eye on April 28th, 2006. The results are truly amazing!

Wednesday, February 23, 2011. Well, as you can see, this blog has not been updated in 3 years. There are several reasons for this. For one thing, when I last updated, it had already been two years. Since Skye's eye had been removed. By then, Skye had moved on for the most part, living and working in her new world, with her "new" eye (her magnificently-crafted prosthesis). Additionally, the milestones didn't seem to hold as much significance. I mean, moving on means moving on. Posted by Skye and Bryan.

Saturday, February 23, 2008. Two years ago today. Skye's enucleation surgery was two years ago today. Two years! We can hardly believe two years have gone by since that day. Skye's implant and prosthesis are doing fantastically well. The results of her touch-up procedure by Dr. Cuite in September are looking great, and she visited her opthalmologist, Dr. Pinter, yesterday, and he told her that her own eye is nice and healthy. Hopefully she can someday look back on this ordeal and realize that it made her so much stronger.
