Dumpling in a Hanky: The female vote
http://dumplinginahanky.blogspot.com/2015/04/the-female-vote.html
Dumpling in a Hanky. Meandering waffle about libraries, law, geekery and occasional crafting. Sunday, April 12, 2015. Last week, UKIP unveiled their latest policies. To try and gain votes in the upcoming General Election. These policies were aimed at attracting "the female vote". The policies cover maternity leave, childcare.and the tax on sanitary products. There's nothing new about this technique of political parties publicising specific policies targeting women: in February the pink minibus of Labour.

Dumpling in a Hanky. Meandering waffle about libraries, law, geekery and occasional crafting. Wednesday, November 27, 2013. Living in interesting times. As you’ll have seen if you've been reading this blog this year, it’s been a bit of a bumpy professional time for me recently. The rapid entry of my long-term employer into administration in March, and the changes it brought about, have certainly seen me living through “. I've been in a job where I became completely disempowered and began to doubt my own ...

Dumpling in a Hanky. Meandering waffle about libraries, law, geekery and occasional crafting. Wednesday, November 12, 2014. So, this is one of the adverts that so annoyed me, for Barclays Digital Eagles. But this is where I get frustrated with the initiative. Did nobody at Barclays realise that an infrastructure to support these activities, and experienced staff were already available.in public libraries? We'd still get the excellent PR of our name being associated with something that's being done for th...

Dumpling in a Hanky: December 2013

Dumpling in a Hanky. Meandering waffle about libraries, law, geekery and occasional crafting. Wednesday, December 18, 2013. There’s a saying about making foolish assumptions. I reset my CILIP website password, just to be sure I was putting in the right password, and tried again: still no access. Bad idea - I get this nonsense in response:. Finally though, I have accidentally found out how to access My Portfolio! Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. View From The Hill.

Dumpling in a Hanky. Meandering waffle about libraries, law, geekery and occasional crafting. Monday, January 27, 2014. Last year, I accumulated almost 230 hours of Continuing Professional Development, or CPD, hours. The time spent attending professional events. The time spent managing the development of the Informed website. The time spent creating content for Informed, my blog, and other locations. The time spent providing professional training to others. Time spent mentoring Chartership candidates.

Dumpling in a Hanky. Meandering waffle about libraries, law, geekery and occasional crafting. Friday, January 02, 2015. Another year, another new start. As 2014 changes into 2015, my employment will be changing too, as I'll shortly be starting another role in a new workplace. So, what will I be doing for the rest of 2015? The prospect is simultaneously both quite exciting, and quite scary - it's more responsibility than I've ever had before, but I'm ready to go in and librarian my ass off!

Dumpling in a Hanky. Meandering waffle about libraries, law, geekery and occasional crafting. Friday, February 28, 2014. What if you don't get back what you put in? I am, as you may know, a member of CILIP, the professional body for information professionals. There are two main reasons I'm a member. In fact - those two reasons I’ve outlined above are the only reasons I'm a CILIP member. As I demonstrated last year. There also doesn't seem to be a centralised policy on reimbursing the costs of volunteers ...

Dumpling in a Hanky: The perils of allowing apps unchecked access to your information

Dumpling in a Hanky. Meandering waffle about libraries, law, geekery and occasional crafting. Friday, March 27, 2015. The perils of allowing apps unchecked access to your information. Luckily, after I went round to see the owners of the house on X Loan, it turned out that it was indeed their house which should have been scaffolded. They got in touch with the scaffolders, and got the scaffold removed to their house.but not until it'd been up on my house for 3 days. I burst out laughing at the cheek of it&...
