The clinician was very compassionate but explained to the patient and the care giver that she was bound by a Code of Ethics, she cannot continue therapy when the reason for the therapy has been resolved, and that she had to report the findings of the study to the insurance company. She also suggested ways the caregiver could help the patient maintain the use of the safe swallowing procedures. This could have gone the opposite way.

This diploma will signify that I have completed coursework in 9 different areas of competency (hearing, swallowing, voice, articulation, phonology, etc.) and am competent to practice with people of all ages in each area. We see people in tough situations, be it after a stroke or a parent who has a child with a disability. Talking or communicating with someone during a difficult time can be a very personal experience. Because we are involved in personal interactions during difficult times we often serve as a counselor or advisor to the client and their family. Answer: I should and I will!
