Trips to New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, India, Cambodia, Sri Lanka and Malaysia have indulged my desire to dodge the cold and dark of London. But after a while the tropics (or antipodean summers) lose their ability to surprise you - at least in terms of climate. The content may still enthrall, but the packaging starts to look a bit samey. Friday, 22 July 2011. We made it to Angkor Wat by dawn, cycling our way in the pitch dark and managing not to fall down any pot holes. As the dawn light slowly etched out the landscape we saw that probably about 30 tourist buses had beaten us to it.
