Midlife fit!: In defense of the short course
http://www.midlifefitblog.com/2015/04/in-defense-of-short-course.html
Thursday, April 30, 2015. In defense of the short course. I'm in Huntingdon Valley PA for a few days for work. Before I got here I Googled places I could run that had hills. I also asked in a FB group. The Valley Forge National Park was recommended. I'm so glad it was. It's beautiful. But, this is what the hills on this trail look like:. I found a paved path afterwards to do a proper run. It also included hill repeats. I'm one of the crazy ones who enjoys hill repeats. I felt good doing them. Before this...

Midlife fit!: June 2014
http://www.midlifefitblog.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 30, 2014. I sure had a lazy couple of days. I cycled yesterday and 9Rounded today, but I didn't do a whole lot other than that. I did some housework and got a bag of clothes ready for Goodwill. I also slept, watched TV, watched a movie (Jobs- it was pretty good), read a bit and took Foxy for walks. I'm in for the night because this is going on:. Here we are when she came to visit me when I was working in Asheville, NC. I started taking Spin classes. I bought a trainer for my bike so I co...

Midlife fit!: September 2014
http://www.midlifefitblog.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, September 27, 2014. Yesterday, 2 differnent fitness coaches mentioned muscle memory to me. First, Coach Kim mentioned it during swim. I wasn't keeping my elbows high enough and my hand entry into the water was too flat. I need to do the fingertip drill to get better at that. After work, Coreen mentioned muscle memory to me when I was running backwards over a ladder. Not one you climb- one like this:. Of course, I know I need to just commit to going to the pool. Last week, I had a bit of a swim ...

Midlife fit!: August 2014
http://www.midlifefitblog.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 24, 2014. Hot, hot, hot. I'm in New Jersey for the week training. I needed to run 4 miles today and decided to run near the hotel. The Saddle River is nearby and the area has parks with trails all along the river. It's really lovely. The run wasn't so lovely. I need to work on pacing. I start out way too fast and lose steam. It was very hot and I was tired quickly. I was also dehydrated, which is no shocker. I wonder how I'd perform if I were properly hydrated. Friday, August 22, 2014.

Saturday, November 22, 2014. Yes, my body has changed quite a bit in the past few months. The 2 pics on the right side show pics that are the closest in time. In the upper right, the left side bird dress pic was taken in May 2014. The right side was November 2014. The bottom right pics were taken in July or August 2014 and November 2014. Now, I'm working on goals of gaining muscle and event goals. My primary goal remains being healthy. My stomach isn't as difficult as it was before I started this...Histo...

Midlife fit!: March 2015
http://www.midlifefitblog.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 29, 2015. It's no secret that I'm scared about the marathon. The one I'm doing in 6 days. The one that is causing butterflies in my stomach. The one that is mostly up and very little down. The one that I signed up for in a moment of over confidence or temporary insanity. Anyway, so, yes, I'm freaking out a bit. Friends have been very supportive and I really appreciate it. I have to take to heart what they're saying so I get to the starting line. Why am I so afraid? There are 2 main reasons:.

Midlife fit!: May 2015
http://www.midlifefitblog.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Sunday, May 17, 2015. I decided the night before to run to the start at Lambeau Field. How cool is it that it starts at Lambeau? That's hard to beat. My plan called for a double run today. It was supposed to be 10 and 10 but I did 3 and 13.1. I ended up here:. Lauren started out an hour before Rachel and me. There are lots of people in this race so even though it was scheduled to start at 8, I didn't cross the start until 8:30. I mentioned it was not, right? I'm not good with heat. Not good at all. I sta...

Midlife fit!: October 2014
http://www.midlifefitblog.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 27, 2014. A case for water aerobics. I went to work, and struggled through the day in an uncomfortable chair. I ended up borrowing a friend's back friendly chair as she was out of the state training. After work, I went to the gym to use the hot tub. I was down. One injury after another. That night, Peter and I bought a new mattress. Yes, I did feel young and thin in class. But, possibly above all others, water aerobics is your workout. You decide how hard you're going to work....I wondere...
