Here is some of my best work on various subjects, some are pdf’s and others are links to articles within this blog. If you find any of this material helpful, please feel free to use it for the purpose of building up Christ’s church. 8220;Faith in Fragments”. 8220;The Motherly Love of God: A Sermon on Mother’s Day”. This was a sermon I preached for Mother’s Day where I explore what it means that Scripture, while it does not refer to God as female, does describe God’s love is like a mother. The ongoing con...

December 19, 2016. Immanuel (1): God is with the Hopeful: Zachariah and Elizabeth. The angel announced, the child conceived in Mary is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins. All this took place to fulfill what had been spoken by the Lord through the prophet Isaiah: ‘Look, the virgin will conceive and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel.’ (Which means God with us). God is with the Hopeful: Zachariah and Elizabeth.

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. Here is another thing about living in Canada. We are obsessed with identifying with our countries of origin.

August 16, 2016. Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all share the one loaf. What is happening in the bread and wine when it is called the body and blood? My body/blood has always been used unabashedly. However, it was only later that Roman Catholics used Aristotelian philosophy to talk about the substan...

September 20, 2016. Centre and Circumference: Thoughts on an “Atheist Minister”. The UCC has a difficult road ahead. They will have to think more about the bounds of orthodoxy and the limits of inclusion. Ironically, to be inclusive you do have to take a stand on some things. That is for them to think more about and us to pray for them with brotherly and sisterly love. In seminary I have heard the statement between two students in the cafeteria, You’re not a premillennial dispensationalist? I have seen e...
