Today I'm taking a vacation day from work, so I celebrated last night by making a new version of the vegan lemon coolers I cooked up a few weeks ago. Growing Flowers in Central Florida. October in the Garden. October 29, 2016. It’s so lovely to feel a chill in the air in the early mornings, a sign that our heat and humidity are past and we can look forward to cooler and drier days. Here and there are a few signs of autumn. A few of my orchids which live outside most of the summer under the shade of some trees are starting to flower. This one looks a fitting color with the lichens, silver bark and air plant. Plumbago is just that perfect shade of blue!

Day Trips and Cool Places. Sunday, August 9, 2015. Well, we finally got our kitchen remodeled. It was a bit of an ordeal. For about a month we had no stove or sink. I lived mainly on birthday-cake-flavored Oreos. There were small crises daily, sometimes hourly. For example, when Rob and I were attempting to move our old refrigerator out of the house, we lost control of it and it tipped backward and fell down the front steps (12 feet of steps! We'll start with a nice shot of our yellow plastic counter tops.
