In the style of Cisneros. Because her themes of home, shame, and hope are true. Because her similes are just right. Gabi is the girl with teeth wrapped in green and silver and hair the color of old wood. The kids at school think she is funny because her laugh touches earth and sky like a wild tornado and her eyes squint like a secret trying to get out. The teachers think she is off task because her face is never on her papers and her pencil is never in her hand. There is no wisdom. There are only abcs.

The World As I See It. In the beginning…. Scotland 2010

This semester I am studying abroad in Edinburgh, Scotland and going to Edinburgh Napier University! Monday, March 29, 2010. This weekend I went on a trip with the Scenic Club from school to Inverness. We had a hilarious tour guide that would laugh at her own joke, tell funny stories and play traditional Scottish music randomly on the bus. Each stop was at least 15 minutes and sometimes people didn’t even get out. We stayed in a youth hostel. And the Urquhart castle. Went on a field trip to a distillery.
