The space in between. The space in between. This work began as an experimental assignment. At the beginning of one of my graduate photography workshops, Paul D’Amato. And so I embarked on a project where I made images of the ordinary urban landscape, trying to notice and capture vignettes and moments that were fleeting and often missed by those that populate the space. Duis mollis, est non commodo luctus, nisi erat porttitor ligula, eget lacinia odio sem nec elit. Maecenas faucibus mollis interdum&#4...

The space in between. 8230;that accident which pricks me (but also bruises me, is poignant to me). April 16, 2008. Art on the (not-so) Cheap: on friendship, wishful thinking and AIPAD. I have a friend that works for a prestigious photography gallery in manhattan. whenever we get together, i am regaled with tales of the unchecked purchasing power of the bourgeoisie, the wheelings-and-dealings of the owner (who for the purposes of anonymity i’ll just refer to here as “ mr. burns. So i’ve been a long time away from writing, and in this and many other ways, a long time away from myself. In the interim between the silence from the old typepad site. Recently (with his relocation from nyc to denver), and sometimes they go completely silent, as in the case of alec soth’s invaluable blog. For anyone ou...

The space in between. 8230;that accident which pricks me (but also bruises me, is poignant to me). August 31, 2004. Stray thoughts, more words. The quote i read that sucker punched me this week:. If artists were weather patterns, what would richter be? A plodding, thick, continual rain? Tenacious and thick with mist? And i learned this week that the japanese use large department stores as exhibiton spaces for photographic projects. it seems i knew that about miwa yanagi’s. That i found for a decent price...

The space in between. 8230;that accident which pricks me (but also bruises me, is poignant to me). August 12, 2004. Considerations in two parts: a love letter to caravaggio and some thoughts on chinese photography, pt. 1. And this weekend i was excited to go because the premise of this pilgrimmage was to view the not-often-travelling caravaggios that are on exhibit at the metropolitan museum of art. The space in between. 8230;that accident which pricks me (but also bruises me, is poignant to me). February 26, 2015. Francine Fleischer and the Watery Depths. For a long while now, I have been imaginatively obsessed with things that I saw in the National Museum of Denmark. Mummified and eerily well-preserved remains of young women buried in oak log coffins. And thrown into peat bogs; meticulously and gorgeously crafted bronze lurs. Which brings me to the work of photographer Francine Fleischer. Perhaps ...

Ramblings from Real Man's Land. Then Jesus said to them, Follow Me… Mark 1:17 (NKJV). Sunday Sermon: The Peace Of God. Billy Graham described peace this way, In Christ we are relaxed and at peace in the midst of the confusions, bewilderments, and perplexities of this life. The storm rages, but our hearts are at rest. We have found peace-at last! This really describes the peace that the Bible promises us we can have. By Stacy J Ross •. An Unwavering Commitment To Christ. Jesus obviously set a pattern of p...

Thoughts From My Hammock | essays, poetry, random thoughts

Thoughts From My Hammock. Essays, poetry, random thoughts. According to My Journal. July 27, 2015 by Stacy J. Stanley. I need to admit this: I have barely written anything for weeks. It happens, these times of creative famine. The famine always ends, sometimes with a sudden abundance of thought and inspiration, so I try not to panic during the famine. This time is no different. To create is to see beauty. I find it in creation, in lovely moments, as I interact with people, or even in tough times. That on...
