Monday, December 28, 2009. December 28-Ecuador, side trip to Chile, Peru and Bolivia: Merry Christmas! Posted by No Boundaries Bikers, Chris Melissa. We rode for a few hours and when arriving at the border, passed through the exit customs and immigration for Peru; we then lined up to enter the customs and immigration area for Bolivia. It doesn’t get any better. But wait, let me go back…. From there, I went to meet my friend Ellen for a brief trip to Chile, with some time in Santiago, wine country and Eas...

Monday, January 4, 2010. January 3, 2010: Bolivia.Fear Factor. Posted by No Boundaries Bikers, Chris Melissa. The days after Christmas brought some adrenaline-filled experiences, some that we enjoyed, and some that we could have lived without. This road, about an hour from La Paz, goes from La Cumbra to Coroico It is a narrow dirt and gravel road just over 3.2 meters wide which has cliffs and drop-offs (no guardrails)with a 3600 meter vertical drop. So here we were, 12 early-bird gringos, dressed in jean...

Sunday, September 13, 2009. Sept 13: Tikal to Lanquin and Antigua. Posted by No Boundaries Bikers, Chris Melissa. Tikal was amazing. We toured the ruins, climbing to the top of Temple IV to re-create the famous shot from Star Wars. We saw a group of nuns from Guatemala City ascend steep steps to a temple in full habits, in the 100-plus degree heat of the rainforest. It was such a sight to see these temples and monuments jutting out from the top of the jungle. We thought we were going to just walk through...

Monday, August 31, 2009. Leaving Mexico City to Veracruz State/Cordoba Aug 30. Posted by No Boundaries Bikers, Chris Melissa. When we finally exited the road, we drove through a little town that was very flooded, all of the exited cars following each other. You could not see what was under the water, so when we hit a big gully, the bike almost went over. I could just picture us ending up in that dirty, god-knows-what water! What a silver lining! Wednesday, September 23, 2009. September 22: Antigua, Copan and Stuck in Tela, Honduras. Posted by No Boundaries Bikers, Chris Melissa. I’ve been through some re-orgs in my life but this one takes the cake. This is how it went down: The President of Honduras, Manuel Zelaya, had some issues with his party and some of the voters when he tried to extend his term limits, among other misdeeds. The next day Chris and I decided to visit a local curiosity, a church in a small village about an hour from central A...
