Wow, nearly 300 visitors came to my Open Studio, some from as far afield as Nuneaton, 'a mission of love' Pam told me and I can't tell you how humble that makes me feel. Everyone was very generous with their lovely comments. It is very rewarding to have so much positive feedback. A blog about the work of artist Sue Nichol. Saturday, 24 November 2012. I have now finished my big painting, 80 x 80 cm, of my favourite breed of sheep, the hardy Swaledale. This picture shows them during a harsh North Yorkshire winter to which they are so well adapted. They look so stoic as they stand against the cold North East wind and are always curious to see a visitor or two. A blog about the work of artist Sue Nichol. Sunday, 23 June 2013. Stunning Staithes A Painting in Progress. I love this initial drawing seeing the scene appear as if out of the mist. The drawing was very complex but I enjoy working it all out. The drawing complete now the fun can begin,. I use more washes and glazing to create Cowbar Nab and the sky. Using a palette knife I add colour to the sky and houses. Almost finished, just need to soften the horizon line and one or two details.
