Standing Witness

I am using this journal to talk about my experiences while I'm studying in the West Bank. As a student of Peace and Conflict Resolution, I think it is important to live in a conflict region and truly experience the situation before making claims or suggesting solutions. I hope to use this time to observe, to learn, and to stand witness to the reality of life in the Occupied Territories today. Saturday, January 21, 2006. More on the New Checkpoints. Musings of a Palestinian Princess

http://palestinianprincess.blogspot.com/2006/07/my-new-look-on-life.html

Musings of a Palestinian Princess: My New Look on Life. Musings of a Palestinian Princess. I'm just your average princess just under occupation. Saturday, July 22, 2006. My New Look on Life. Yes, you heard right. I have a new look on life, I just got LASIK treatment for my eyes and I am pleasantly pleased. I tried to stay off the computer because I didn't want to strain my eyes, you know, not because I was avoiding posting, although that could have a little bit to do with it :P. I am glad that something ...

Walking the Walk: 9 Months in Afghanistan: War movies, fireworks and reverse culture shock

http://saharinkabul.blogspot.com/2007/04/war-movies-fireworks-and-reverse.html

Walking the Walk: 9 Months in Afghanistan. This blog is about my experiences in this "post" conflict region. Wednesday, April 25, 2007. War movies, fireworks and reverse culture shock. Tonight I watched Mrs. Henderson Presents. I’d had a frustrating day at work, and I felt like vegging out to a movie. The movie is about a lot of things, and it is set during WWII. During the movie they were showing brave young men in uniform, air raids on. I can’t help but wonder how much I’ve changed during m...I guess I...

Walking the Walk: 9 Months in Afghanistan. This blog is about my experiences in this "post" conflict region. Friday, March 16, 2007. Overall, it was a very successful event, and I think we're going to start doing it monthly. It was nice to be able to interact with my co-workers in a more personal way. I've had a very difficult time bridging that gap with most of them, even though I've been here for six months now. I can see I have a lot to learn from them. Thursday, March 08, 2007. Walking the Walk: 9 Months in Afghanistan. This blog is about my experiences in this "post" conflict region. Tuesday, April 03, 2007. Me and the Kuwaiti family at the airport. Well, maybe not so little, but relatively minor in Kabul. I guess it was a 6.2 on the richter scale in Badakshan (northern Afghanistan) but in Kabul the ground only shook for about 2 minutes. Long enough for everyone to run out of the buildings and watch the satellite dish tremor. Then it was back to work as usual. Body on the Line.

Walking the Walk: 9 Months in Afghanistan. This blog is about my experiences in this "post" conflict region. Saturday, May 26, 2007. People keep asking me what my plan is once I return home - I swear it feels like I'm finishing undergrad again. And yet, it feels even more lame now than then to say - I don't know. I really, honestly have no idea what comes next. In some ways it is very liberating, and in others absolutely terrifying. Wednesday, May 16, 2007. Saturday, May 05, 2007. Blue mosque at sunset.

Standing with the Students

Standing with the Students. Standing-With-The-Students tells the story of the ongoing students struggle at the University of Buea in Ambazonia â annexed to Cameroun in 1961. Since 2005 there has been a confrontation at the campus every year. 2014 started with another round of protest as the regime tries to disband the student body; which the students secured from a series of past protests and at the cost of the lives of their mates.
