Kerry Day - Mixed Media Artist. Friday, 9 October 2015. Sometimes you can spend hours and even days carving out your lino, getting the design just right. Then when you come to printing you're not sure how to register it each time. There can be many methods to choose from and below are 5 examples that I show to my students. Good for single colour printing. Get a piece of paper larger than the paper you intend to print onto. Or use acetate for a wipe clean version. Place your printing paper onto the sheet.

Kerry Day - Mixed Media Artist: About Me
http://kerrydayarts.blogspot.com/p/about-me.html
Kerry Day - Mixed Media Artist. My name is Kerry Day and I’m a mixed media artist. I paint in oils and acrylics: draw and print using screen printing and the reduction linocut method. My figurative works celebrate the human form, the line and shape of a limb, the curve of the back, and in particular the interplay of light and shade. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). http://kerrydayarts.blogspot.com/2016_02_01_archive.html
Kerry Day - Mixed Media Artist. Friday, 5 February 2016. A very belated Happy New Year to you all :-). I've had a fairly busy few weeks with creating new work and teaching Lino Printing at the Folkhouse. I'm teaching 5 week courses for adults and have just come to the end of the first block. It is always interesting how students with little or no printing experience get to grips with Lino and produce wonderful creations. Links to this post. Location: Park St, Bristol, City of Bristol BS1 5JG, UK.

Kerry Day - Mixed Media Artist. Tuesday, 9 June 2015. A Trip Down Memory Lane. Final exhibition piece - Sequence 1 and 4. It feels like only yesterday but it is 4 years to the day that I completed my MA Multi Disciplinary Printmaking course at the University of the West of England. At the time I was fascinated by movement and the work of photographer Eadweard Muybridge. I did a lot of drawing with movement life classes and using these to build up a body of sequences. To the tutor who didn't understand wh...

Kerry Day - Mixed Media Artist: Relief Printing
http://kerrydayarts.blogspot.com/p/relief-printing.html
Kerry Day - Mixed Media Artist. A relief can be defined as an impression made by a hand or an object that has been transferred onto an alternative surface. The origins of relief printing are ancient and varied. Evidence of carved reliefs can be traced to the Sumerian civilization of c.4000 BCE. In Mexico, the Olmec Indians used baked clay tubes decorated with relief designs to create repeat patterns between 1000 and 800 BCE. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). March Meet The Maker.

Kerry Day - Mixed Media Artist: Reduction Linocuts
http://kerrydayarts.blogspot.com/p/reduction-linocuts.html
Kerry Day - Mixed Media Artist. In a reduction print the artist develops all the colours from the same block. For each colour pass the artist removes more material from the block. Each colour is printed on top of the previous. The artist must print the entire edition as they work, because the printable area of the single block is reduced with each pass. Below shows the 4 steps that make up Pilea Peperomioides. All areas to remain the colour of the paper are cut away. Plate is inked up and printed.
