Being: Fix -- Part Deux
http://barbaramuthglass.blogspot.com/2006/05/fix-part-deux.html
About being an artist, being human, being part of more than just me. Saturday, May 20, 2006. Fix - Part Deux. Pulled my repaired guy from the kiln this morning. It took me three 27 hour firings to do:. The first to tack the new elements in place with the glass face up;. The second to slump the base over the tacked on elements face down; and. The third firing to full fuse it all face down. Posted by Barbara Muth at 8:26 AM. Reflecting on life- real and imagined. Cowboy in Caracas (my friend's blog).

About being an artist, being human, being part of more than just me. Sunday, December 25, 2005. End of the year. Ultimately I didn't get much new work done this year. I did manage to finish the piece on grief and get it juried into the Pilchuck auction. My work was rejected for a lot of other shows because of shitty images. I keep trying new photographers and they all suck. Despite all that, I managed to finish a piece for every member of my family this year, and hope that each piece works for them.

About being an artist, being human, being part of more than just me. Thursday, September 29, 2005. I can do something that is totally abstract. What aspect of myself do I portray? It's a struggle deciding where to go with this. Lots of sketches to consider. Posted by Barbara Muth at 1:44 PM. Tuesday, September 27, 2005. I have some older unfinished work that I need to finish up. Sometimes it is hard to finish up what you were working on when your mind has taken you elsewhere. Wednesday, September 07, 2005.

About being an artist, being human, being part of more than just me. Saturday, May 20, 2006. Losing my grip on Technology. So the fact that I am not on top of the game, that I have to cede the title of Queen of software problem solving to someone twenty years younger who works for me is somewhat disconcerting. (Not to mention that I haven't yet figured out how to deal internally with my not so new anymore role as boss.) And I really don't want to admit that it's really because I am slipping behind. Howev...

I never used corn flour until I learned to make arepas while living in Venezuela. I would never call it anything but. You when you go to the store? That is not code-switching. It's just a slow transition from one language to the other. Posted by Barbara Muth at 9:04 PM. Mostly Glass- a virtual catalog of my work.

About being an artist, being human, being part of more than just me. Monday, March 27, 2006. I have had two big challenges, to step up and change my focus from "research research research always first and foremost" to "how can our unit support everyone else". It was tough, because frankly I am always right and I don't get how most people don't see that. And research should come first. (Tongue by the way - firmly planted in my cheek). And I need to channel all that energy back into the studio. Maybe I...

I didn’t expect that to happen as one of the jurors doesn’t care for my silver-fumed work. But I hadn’t wanted to submit any of the dwelling places work, or any of the work about emotions to this show. Life is full of surprises. Posted by Barbara Muth at 3:07 PM. Being: Yet Another Rejection
http://barbaramuthglass.blogspot.com/2006/09/yet-another-rejection.html
About being an artist, being human, being part of more than just me. Monday, September 04, 2006. I have pretty much decided not to go, even if they do accept the piece. Still don't know whether or not I will continue doing the figure work. I need to evaluate whether or not the figures are essential to the piece. Taking a design class this fall will be helpful, especially combined with some artist critiques I intend to participate in. Posted by Barbara Muth at 8:53 PM. Up the noses of the emerge judges!
