Past Events - STSA The Story So Far. An evening of Song and Music with the Marine Institute Singers and Friends was held on Saturday June 13th in St Nicholas's Collegiate Church Galway at 8pm. A diagnosis of cancer is shocking news and undoubtedly a life-altering event. Thankfully most patients diagnosed with cancer are cured of their disease. There are more cancer survivors alive at this moment than at any other time in the history of the World. This is surely something to sing about! Cancer survivors need ongoing support, especially from fellow survivors. STSA promotes this by bringing cancer patients together, on a weekly basis, to sing and have fun together. There is evidence that music is beneficial and therapeutic for cancer patients. Volunteers can help in many ways, for example:. By providing musical accompaniment if they play an instrument. Providing somewhere to rehearse if they own a suitable premises. Giving someone a lift to rehearsals if they have no transport. Encouraging cancer survivors to join STSA. We're sure there are many more ways that you can help, but we just haven't thought of them yet. If you have any ideas, or any assistance you'd like to offer, get in touch, and join our STSA family.

3 years ago today since the devastating health diagnosis. Never thought I would see this day. Am so thankful for the health I have, for my wonderful family and friends and in this past year especially the wonderful friends I have made through the STSA choir and Rock Rose House.
