TAB Studio with Mrs. B. Can't Never Does! Now go make some art! Meaningfully Connecting Grades and Assessment. August 6, 2015. If you teach high school, you know that there is no way to get away from grades. Grades determine GPA, which determines the top 10%, which could mean automatic acceptance into a state college, etc., etc., etc. It’s a vicious cycle that personally I dislike. A lot. Did your artwork have 3 lines and 6 warm colors? How well are you understanding the process? How are you improving yo...

TAB Studio with Mrs. B. Can't Never Does! Now go make some art! My week at the TAB Institute in Boston, 2015. August 4, 2015. On July 12, I woke up at 4 am to get things ready to board my flight to Boston, MA so I could attend the 2015 TAB Institute. Our “Treehouse” home for the week. Kathy, Diane, Clyde, Julie, and Ian. TAB Studio with Mrs. B. Can't Never Does! Now go make some art! Say Yes to Drawing Tests in Art! June 10, 2015. A concern that I have heard about having a choice-based or TAB art studio is that students don’t ever work on skills–including observational drawing skills. I would like to address this particular concern. My students work on observational skills…every 2 weeks. How do they do this you might ask? Well, let me tell you…with a drawing test. Here is the low-down:. Many class sets of objects. I use ...

TAB Studio with Mrs. B. Can't Never Does! Now go make some art! October 20, 2016. One day this summer as I was perusing Facebook, I came across a post about a community artwork a woman named Nancy Belmont started. It was a large installation comprised of pvc poles, identifying signs, and miles and miles of yarn. After watching a video about her project, the Unity Project. I knew it was something I needed to bring into my classroom…into my school. The next day, students were asked to fill out a worksheet.

TAB Studio with Mrs. B. Can't Never Does! Now go make some art! Day to Day in My TAB Classroom. March 15, 2015. A post on my art teacher’s fb page asking about how a TAB classroom works at the high school level got me to searching my blog for a post on how I do it. I found numerous posts on why. I do it, the themes we have used, and organization. Of my room. While those are very helpful, they don’t really talk about how my classroom is run–the day to day. To help them develop ideas. This helps in sev...

TBPS Art: November 2013
http://tbpsart.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 12, 2013. Something new this year is a clay center in the rotation of open centers. Third and fourth graders have had this option for the first trimester. Keeping track of clay for all classes at once becomes a kiln loading and clay storage challenge. By keeping it to grade level groups, it makes it more manageable and students have more access to clay than usual. Here are some of the clay creations from 3rd and 4th graders this year.
