Wednesday, August 7, 2013. My "All Natural" Fail. So we moved into our new place about a month ago and ever since the day we started moving stuff in I noticed ants. At first it was just a few here and there, nothing really significant. Well it seems that those few ants went back to their home and told all their friends that there is a messy two year old living in my apartment and they all came running. In other news, my wild flower garden and vegetable garden are doing amazingly! Posted by Sasha Freedman.

Learning to live green one day at a time. Squash Vine Borer – Three Secrets to Organic Control in Your Garden. This morning I took a garden tour with a mission. Suburban Greenie
I am a 40 something mother of three, living in one of Sydney's North Shore suburbs. On this blog, I record my daily struggles -small and large- to live more sustainably. Tuesday, November 11, 2008. I haven't posted in a while - because nothing much has happened. Or maybe too much has happened. We're still waiting for a big project to get off the ground. And meanwhile we have been busy with many little ones. Here is a glimpse. And I have plenty of ideas for small posts. Better start writing . The Governme...

October 22, 2014. Learning to love Perth’s lakes and wetlands. If you fly into Perth at sunset (& have a window seat on the left hand side! The beauty of the Swan and Canning Rivers, and the glistening Indian Ocean is absolutely mesmerising. Of course I knew about many of these lakes and wetlands in isolation, and had walked and ridden around a few, but the connection and relationships, their environmental and cultural history and values, were something I wanted to know more about. So, apparently, of the...

The Greenstead’s Garden. Reducing Consumption and Waste. The Mystery Processed Food. The small green homestead. A Tale of Two Labels or How I Found Bouillon Nirvana. July 2, 2014. It always amazes me what I discover when I read food product labels. Like, that “mechanically separated chicken” is a real thing and needs to be disclosed on a label. Or that salt could ever be an acceptable first ingredient in anything other than a box ofwell, salt. You be the judge. 1 SALT. 2. Palm oil. 3. MSG. And no, I don&...

The ongoings of a Suburban Greenthumb
Saturday, December 17, 2011. The Television to Internet Transition: social decentralization. Then cable came and had a thousand channels. It did not change things too much, because so much of the cable programming is just fluff and the real meat stayed very near the staple networks (ABC, NBC, CBS). 24/7 news networks are the real exception to the fluff that cable offers. Anyways. I am going off on a tangent. That all said, with the internet, we can shape our world. We control what we see and pay atte...
