It also makes a delicious chocolate ice-cream if you just omit the Nutella. 6 egg yolks (use your leftovers from your Pavlova. 100g dark chocolate (I use couverture). Whisk the yolks and sugar until pale and thick. Heat the cream in the microwave until it is very warm and pour it slowly into the egg mixture, beating all the time. Home-made ice cream keeps well for up to two weeks.

This quantity made a lovely sized house (plenty for 6 kids to enjoy on Christmas Day) with a small amount of dough leftover for the kids to decorate some biscuits as well. 6 tbspns golden syrup. 2 tsp ground cinnamon. 2 tsp ground ginger. Finely grated zest of 1 orange. 1 tsp bicarb soda. 1 1/2 to 2 cups icing sugar. Tir in the flour gradually until you have a smooth manageable dough.
