Ben Brockert's Sugar Shot SolidWorks. CAD modeling and analysis for Sugar Shot to Space. Monthly Archives: April 2013. 2013 Sparkfun Autonomous Vehicle Competition Recon. April 19, 2013. Paul Breed asked me to check out a couple things about the course for the 2013 Sparkfun AVC. So I went to check it out. Here’s the ground course video:. The course generally slopes upward from the start line to the third corner, then slopes back down to the fourth corner. There’s also a gallery of photos on Flickr.

Ben Brockert's Sugar Shot SolidWorks. CAD modeling and analysis for Sugar Shot to Space. Monthly Archives: July 2013. Addendum to nose cone heating: stagnation temperature. July 26, 2013. It’s useful to calculate the stagnation temperature. Of the air. It gives an upper bound to the temperature that the nose could reach. Going near Mach 5 at 13km: quite toasty. Solidworks Simulation of near hypersonic nose cone. July 26, 2013. Specific heat (possibly at multiple temperatures). Thermal conductivity (which...

Ben Brockert's Sugar Shot SolidWorks. CAD modeling and analysis for Sugar Shot to Space. Monthly Archives: June 2012. Loadcell adapter plates and the challenges of load constraints. June 4, 2012. I wanted to show the difference in FEA between loading the easy way, into faces of the single part, vs. a more accurate way, into a simulated bolt and loadcell button. The scales are the same in both sets of images. The latter set shows that applying the force through a button and 0.24″ rod signifi...And finally...

Ben Brockert's Sugar Shot SolidWorks. CAD modeling and analysis for Sugar Shot to Space. Monthly Archives: October 2012. Richard’s chamber separator disk geometry, using polycarbonate, 20% glass filled. October 25, 2012. An analysis of a CSD based on geometry specified by Richard Nakka. In this run glass filled polycarbonate was used as the material, with the following properties:. Elastic modulus in X: 1200000 psi. Poisson’s Ration in XY: 0.37. Tensile Strength in X: 17100 psi. Yield Strength: 17400 psi.

Ben Brockert's Sugar Shot SolidWorks. CAD modeling and analysis for Sugar Shot to Space. Monthly Archives: December 2013. Numeric analysis of nose cone heating: first steps. December 22, 2013. Calvin and Hobbes on engineering design. Least accurate, but easiest, is using empirical models. Rockets and planes have been flown supersonic many times, and from that dataset researchers have created simple equations that can crudely predict the temperature and heating that will be seen in flight. R is the recove...

Ben Brockert's Sugar Shot SolidWorks. CAD modeling and analysis for Sugar Shot to Space. Monthly Archives: May 2012. Modifying Young’s Modulus or Tensile Strength of KNSB to Allow Casebonding. May 16, 2012. Here is the burst that was the impetus for these FEA experiments:. What is KNSB propellant? In short, it is a mix of potassium nitrate, which is an oxidizer, and sorbitol, a sugar-like fuel. Read more about it on Richard Nakka’s website. What are the physical properties that I look at modifying? This ...

Randy's Rocketry: October 2014
http://randysrocketry.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Friday, October 24, 2014. Propellant testing (Dextrose, Sorbitol, Erythritol). KNER (erythritol based propellant). That test cato'd half way through the burn. I do still want to redo that test, but this time with a stepped core. After that test I reduced the segments to 6 and it was successfully flown. I plan to fire this motor as a 4 segment and as a 6 segment motor, with some luck I may get the 8 segment motor ready as well. Saturday, October 18, 2014. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Thursday, February 28, 2013. SStS, CSD UPDATE. Chamber Separation Disk (CSD) in the Mid-Bulkhead. I completed the modifications to the MBH ,CSD, and plug recently. The entire DSS TM-1-2 test motor is now with another project member undergoing hydrostatic testing. There seems to be a lot of mixed feelings about this approach, I'm just hoping it works. Hopefully the testing goes well and we can get to a test firing soon. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). SStS, CSD UPDATE. Rocketry and related sites.
