http://jhallaroundtheworld.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, November 22, 2012. On the Saturday of our first weekend in Aberdeen, we decided to drive south along the coast to Stonehaven and visit Dunnottar castle. Along the coast of Stonehaven. Dunnottar means "fort on the shelving slope.". We hiked down a cliff to the rocky shore. The seal friend who came to visit us. The weather has been so good to us! Dunnottar Castle is most known for being the place where the Scottish crown jewels were hidden from Oliver Cromwell's army. Monday, November 19, 2012.

Wednesday, December 4, 2013. Journey to Northern Scotland. Epic Scotland Trip: May 2-6, 2013. James and I knew that we had to see the northern and western parts of Scotland that we hadn't seen yet. We saved visiting the Isle of Skye for May when we thought the weather would be warmer. Although the weather wasn't terrible, it certainly wasn't the least bit warm. This trip was amazing! By the end of our year in Scotland, we put 10,000 miles on the car! Date of this event: May 2-3, 2013. The Dunnet Head lig...

Monday, January 28, 2013. Date of this trip: October 5-7, 2012. Because this was our first time to visit London, we took a double-decker bus tour and absolutely loved it. As a matter of fact, we absolutely loved everything about London! If you haven't been, you need to go. Immediately. The Houses of Parliament. A view across River Thames (pronounced "Temz"). The Millennium Bridge is a pedestrian-only footbridge that crosses River Thames. James ate a proper English dinner of steak and ale pie. The Lewis C...

Saturday, December 8, 2012. On October 23rd, I went on my first legitimate hike in Scotland with the ladies of the AWA. The leader of our group decided to take us to walk Scolty hill because of the remarkable views of Aberdeenshire. We were all very excited for the photo-op! Pausing to take a breather. Can't see where I am headed. We climbed all the way to the top for this lovely view of the fog. Alas, the weather got us. This just means we will have to do the walk again! Wednesday, October 31, 2012. The Beautiful Cinque Terre. As the most photogenic city we had traveled to yet, I took an unreasonable amount of photos of the five cities that make up the Italian Cinque Terre. I just couldn't help it! Thankfully, several of our friends advised us to visit Cinque Terre on the Italian Riviera. If you have the opportunity to travel to Italy, we definitely recommend taking some time to visit these gorgeous cities. The five cities that make up the Cinque Terre are Riomaggiore.

Thursday, February 14, 2013. Date of this event: November 17, 2012. Due to our love of visiting castles and everything we had heard about Slains Castle, we ventured out for a day of exploring. About 25 miles North of Aberdeen, Slains Castle is near Cruden Bay and faces the North Sea. Our walk to Slains Castle was quite an adventure. My favorite part was the fluffy and springy grass. It reminded me of Dr. Seuss, and it almost felt trampoline-like. This is the trail right before the castle. It looks like i...

Thursday, October 31, 2013. Date of this event: April 27, 2013. Our inspiration for this walk around Old Aberdeen was to visit the Church of Scotland's St. Machar's Cathedral. Unfortunately, we didn't check the opening hours, and we arrived after the closing time. Instead, we had a wander around the church grounds before continuing our walk to the University of Aberdeen. Thanks for joining us on this walk, Kristal and Steve! The University of Aberdeen. Saturday, October 26, 2013. Parc del Laberint d'Horta.

Wednesday, June 25, 2014. Date of this event: May 3-4, 2013. This leg of our journey took us from point C (John o' Groats) to point E (Ullapool). These pictures don't quite capture the experience. This is the middle of nowhere. It is wild, it is peaceful, it is majestic. There is no noise except the wind and occasionally the waves near the coast. There is slight chill in the air that makes everything feel still and calm. Near the town of Tongue. Here, there is a waterfall that runs into the sea cave.
