The lives of Xavier and Emma King. The Homestead as google earth sees it today. May 17, 2008 in Uncategorized. Oddly this image from 2008 may look more like the land to which Xavier came than the landscapes of our youth did because the forest has returned. Xavier cleared the land for timber and fields, in 1908 a huge forest fire stripped most of the wooded areas leaving the beautiful Adirondack rocks exposed, and our lovely big rock visible for what it was, a monolith of stone. Xavier Francis King | The Homestead Years
https://homesteadyears.wordpress.com/xavier-francis-king
The lives of Xavier and Emma King. It seems odd to defend him, when everyone said he was “mean”. But I knew his sons, and they were mostly the sweetest men, but each could be tough as nails and completely unmoveable once their minds were set. Was that how he was? A pioneer’s son, working to make a comfortable life for a family that didn’t stop with sons and daughters. A man who had obligations, wanted obligations and met obligations by force of will and work. I bet he was mean. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Emma Malvina Colburn (D’Amours DeCourberon) | The Homestead Years
https://homesteadyears.wordpress.com/emma-malvina-colburn-damours-decourberon
The lives of Xavier and Emma King. Emma Malvina Colburn (D’Amours DeCourberon). March 14, 2008 at 3:49 pm. The King-Colburn family seems to have a tendency to recycle first names even though they are quite creative with the spellings. I wonder why there is only one Emma? Maybe we need some Zoes and more Chloes, Alexes and Gastons. My own grandchildren are David, Katy and Benjamin. Sometimes the name similarities may be coincidental. I hope that some day there is another Emma. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Francophones around Chazy Lake called them barbottes. I think that black bullhead is the accepted term. They are actually a type of catfish with whiskers near their mouth. These are feelers, I suppose, because they usually feed after dusk. Chazy Lake Researcher’s Meetingplace. The Chazy Lake Page. The Chazy Lake Times. The Kings of Chazy Lake.
