Covered Bridge Ride
http://www.tandemride.com/c_bridge-09.htm
Javascript DHTML Drop Down Menu Powered by dhtml-menu-builder.com. Covered Bridge Bicycle Tour. This is a great annual ride hosted by the Mid-Valley Bicycle Club. Beautiful scenery along the route. Other out of the ordinary bikes. This was a lot of fun! We had never seen these old covered bridges before, and seeing them by bike was a great way to do it. Though the hills would have been lots easier in a car!
Touring Equipment
http://www.tandemride.com/touring.htm
Javascript DHTML Drop Down Menu Powered by dhtml-menu-builder.com. In order to get ready for touring, we needed to really expand our cargo carrying capabilities. When we got it all decked out, it looked like we needed a caution sign on the back! In fact we have had people kiddingly ask us if we need a special license to ride it. The items below are what we have added to our rig. Our next addition was a set of small panniers under the stoker's seat. We purchased both the rack and panniers from TerraCy...

Here we are in the picture to the right, all ready to go! I hope you enjoy all of our pictures below. You can click on each of them to see a larger version. Awesome support from volunteers. Beautiful scenery along the route. One more thing. there were other weird vehicles (besides us). They rode all 100 miles!
Tips To Get Started Touring
http://www.tandemride.com/touring-tips.htm
Javascript DHTML Drop Down Menu Powered by dhtml-menu-builder.com. Tips To Get Started Touring. Transitioning from avid riders to touring. We are not touring experts by any means! We've got friends who have made multiple Trans-America trips. We would most definitely yield to their expertise! We did lots of research, attended seminars, read first-hand accounts, and talked to touring veterans. What we share below is the BEST. Of all the wisdom we gleaned in our studies, and then tested in our own experience.

We hadn’t visited Fort Stevens State Park before, it’s really pretty. Our campsite is nestled in amongst the forest. We left the trailer and our camp all set up, and used the bike for transportation around the town of Warrenton for sightseeing and meals. 8230;more of the bike paths. Nostalgic Nana: July 2014
http://nostalgic-nana.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
She travels. She cooks. She grows things. She parties. She loves on her grandchildren. Friday, July 18, 2014. I found a Groupon for a bounce house in Plano, but it was sold out. I know. You are astounded at my lack of thriftiness. It only cost $34 for the eight of us, and we had an absolute blast for two hours, so I figure it was a bargain at the price. There were lots of great bouncy structures, but the big slide was the best of all and the only one where I could really get any photos. Sam and Charlie a...
Coast Bike Tour – Day 5 | TandemRide blog
https://tandemrideblog.wordpress.com/2010/08/18/coast-bike-tour-day-5
Updated by Jeff and Michelle. Coast Bike Tour – Day 4. Coast Bike Tour – Day 6 →. Coast Bike Tour – Day 5. August 18, 2010. Making the short trip today from Seaside to Cannon Beach…. The motel manager and I put these cones in front of our room overnight. I was concerned that if someone parked in front of our door, we’d be stuck, not being able to get our bike out of the room! It seemed really strange going through this interchange on a bike! No worries about us exceeding the posted speed! You are comment...

Updated by Jeff and Michelle. Coast Bike Tour – Day 3. Coast Bike Tour – Day 5 →. Coast Bike Tour – Day 4. August 17, 2010. After stopping for breakfast at the Serendipity Restaurant in Warrenton (where we posted the entry for yesterday) we hit the road. We headed south on Highway 101, most of which was not too generous with the width of the bike lane. Had to stop for a picture with the sign for the “Oregon Coast Bike Route”. Our first glimpse of the beach…. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. You ar...

Nostalgic Nana: December 2013
http://nostalgic-nana.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
She travels. She cooks. She grows things. She parties. She loves on her grandchildren. Wednesday, December 25, 2013. Was giving the seven grandchildren their Christmas Pez candy (carefully saved from post-Christmas sales last year) before. The traditional Christmas Eve nativity reading. What's the most important thing about Christmas, Natalie? It's when baby Jesus was born. The girl knows her stuff. The rest of them, however, were firmly focused on one thing. And there were varying degrees of attention.
Nostalgic Nana: January 2014
http://nostalgic-nana.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
She travels. She cooks. She grows things. She parties. She loves on her grandchildren. Friday, January 3, 2014. Papa and I got to look after the five M grandchildren for six days. Mommy and Daddy were taking a much-needed holiday, gallivanting around Georgia and Florida and just being sweethearts for a change. It was their first long break in over thirteen years of marriage. Jeff had found one with hot tubs in the rooms. Skip forward to sleep-time. And pretty soon it started. And Madelyn opened her birth...
Nostalgic Nana: May 2014
http://nostalgic-nana.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
She travels. She cooks. She grows things. She parties. She loves on her grandchildren. Saturday, May 10, 2014. I find the Lego phenomenon to be quite interesting. If you do a quick Google, you can see grown people who own thousands of Lego bricks and spend every spare moment designing and building their creations. There are movies, theme parks, clubs, robots, magazines, video games, and more things Lego than I will ever see in my lifetime. Well, let me tell you. It was not easy. Yes, I do," he replied...
Nostalgic Nana: August 2014
http://nostalgic-nana.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
She travels. She cooks. She grows things. She parties. She loves on her grandchildren. Wednesday, August 13, 2014. Once upon a time, a nana booked a yurt for a night so that she and the papa could take the seven local grandchildren camping for a night. Tents scare her any more, so a yurt seemed like a good compromise. There were very few dates available by the time she went looking, so she chose a date and hoped it would work. Which was just as well, because Nana was woefully unprepared for gore. It goes...
Nostalgic Nana: April 2014
http://nostalgic-nana.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
She travels. She cooks. She grows things. She parties. She loves on her grandchildren. Monday, April 28, 2014. I have always loved chicken. I also love chickens, but that's another matter. I remember as a child, cleaning off the chicken carcass until there was not a scrap of meat left. Dad always said we didn't need a dog in the house because we had me. I just loved meat that much. Pork crackling, chicken skin, the parson's nose. And today, my dad would be proud. Having bought three (! I arose this morni...

Updated by Jeff and Michelle. Coast Bike Tour – epilogue. August 22, 2010. In the four years we’ve had our tandem recumbent bike, we have been exploring various aspects of cycling. The sport/hobby of cycling is incredibly broad and encompasses all different types of riding. We have discovered that there are some things we enjoy, and others well, not so much. The things we like. And of course for Michelle, checking out the local yarn shops.). The things we didn’t like. We didn’t like riding all day long, ...
