We moved, Husband got a new job, I got a new job, Bear had a birthday, and we're expecting again. So there is a little slack to be cut. I started mapping this out and discovered that it was way to long for one post so I'll break it down into two. Part 1: Planning/Prep and Part 2: Party. Step 1: The Theme/Decor (Free). I also borrowed some decorations from the Be...

Wednesday, May 30, 2012. 1st Birthday on a Budget: Part 2. Wow, I am really bad at this blogging thing! But hey, working and raising a family is hard work and let's face it, blogging isn't exactly top priority. That said, here's the rest of the Bear's 1st birthday. Step 3: Pick a Menu ($30) and Make a Cake ($8). When it came to the cake, I tried to be ambitious and make one from scratch. Who knew that cake is next to impossible to get out of a custom cake pan without cake release? Step 4: Favors ($7).

Blessed Imperfection: Awkward can be worth it
http://blessedimperfection.blogspot.com/2011/03/awkward-can-be-worth-it.html
Tuesday, March 1, 2011. Awkward can be worth it. Devin spent all afternoon on Sunday making the walls of our house look beautiful. He was busy hammering, puttying, sanding, and painting until midnight. Because I'm the epitome of a perfect wife, instead of thanking him for all the hard work he did, I blamed him when the outlets quit working in the bathroom that day. "You must have screwed up the wires when you were hammering! I know, he's just SO lucky! I mean, who wouldn't want me for a wife right? I beg...

How ridiculously difficult it has been to make ...

There have been a few things that I just flat out refused to make because I knew we wouldn't like them, a few things that have been really good, and a few things that turned out to be just ok and I probably won't try again. The recipes are printed off for you along with a grocery list so you just print your list and go to the store. I had ingredients to make dinner! They didn't reall...
