Python for Bioinformatics: March 2012

http://telliott99.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Saturday, March 31, 2012. Launch control to monitor my server. This post integrates the previous post. That came just before it on a Ubuntu server running on OS X Lion under VirtualBox. I'm a complete amateur at this (really just using blogger as a scientific notebook), so if you have suggestions I'd be very happy to hear from you. Into the server from OS X, and do a. As shown by the. The change runs the script every 60 seconds rather than watching a path on OS X. The plist contains the key. Date Sat Mar...

Python for Bioinformatics: June 2012

http://telliott99.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Saturday, June 16, 2012. I got curious about functions with variadic arguments like in NSArray:. Here's are two C examples. In either case, it's required to have a named argument that precedes the variable part. In the first method, that variable gives a count of the arguments. In the second, it's not used for anything except to show where to start. A sentinel value shows the end of the variable length argument list. I also incorporated. Which I came across in my reading and was new to me. 2012-05-29 16:...

Python for Bioinformatics: August 2014

http://telliott99.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

Tuesday, August 19, 2014. Swift talks to Objective C. I am back brushing up on Objective C and Cocoa, and now working on Swift. It is supposed to be easy to integrate Swift code with an Objective C project, but I found it difficult. So as I've done before, I've cooked up a working example that is as simple as it could possibly get. I thought I would post a writeup on Dropbox. It's a pdf printed from Sphinx html). The original will be on github soon. Good as long as Dropbox yet lives. Links to this post.

Python for Bioinformatics: August 2012

http://telliott99.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, August 9, 2012. Posting has become much rarer here recently, as my energy has flagged. And this morning I have a rather preemptory request that I fix the old links that were broken as a result of Apple's ditching iDisk. While I still have the files, somewhere, and I could theoretically put them on Dropbox, I'm really not ready to fix what must be several hundred links. If you really must have an old file, I can probably find it. Http:/ web.mac.com/telliott99/Python/. It is on Dropbox here.

Python for Bioinformatics: July 2012

http://telliott99.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, July 31, 2012. More fun with geometry. I ran into a fun problem. With parallelograms the other day. The graphic shows a parallelogram broken up into pieces by its diagonals. Since the opposing sides of a parallelogram are parallel and equal, it's easy to show that the top and bottom triangles are congruent, just rotated, likewise with the other two. X = length of long diagonal (orange maroon). Y = length of short diagonal. Y/2 = 1/2 length of short diagonal (blue). Area = x (y/2) sin B. I teach ...

Video Lectures and Talks. Wednesday, February 5, 2014. Fun with my Raspberry Pi. I ordered a Raspberry Pi recently. I've heard so much about this device in the recent past, I decide to try it out. I was reminded of few microprocessor(fun class) and electrical engineering(not so fun time) classes that I took in my undergrad. I wrote a simple program that could turn a Stepper Motor using a motor controller. Connected to a Raspberry Pi. HDMI cable to connect to a TV or monitor. For powering the stepper motor.

Video Lectures and Talks. Wednesday, March 9, 2016. Simple Convolutional Neural Net based object recognition. I made a simple object recognition module over the last weekend. I wrote a Theano. Based convolutional neural network. I wrote a simple OpenCV. Based image segmentation program. The output from the image segmentation program is passed to the Theano based Convolutional Neural Network. I used 10,000 images for training and 16,000 images for testing. Posted by Rahul Kavi. Video Lectures and Talks. Sunday, June 9, 2013. Logisitic Regression in OpenCV. I finished writing a Logistic Regression classifier in OpenCV. I've seen a lot of posts on the web asking for OpenCV's version of the same but its not available. Its easy to write your own logistic regression classifier. I separated out the cost function and gradient descent algorithm (Batch Gradient Descent). You can replace it with your own optimization algorithm. I posted it on my Github page. You can check it out:.

This post explains to setup an ad-hoc network in one of the most easiest ways. The basic idea behind setting this up is, set up an ad-hoc network on your both (or more) computers individually and let them talk (or ping) to each other. You will have to do the following in both(or more, replace the ip addresses) of the computers. Comp Vision ...
