We want the world and we want it now. #JimMorrison. How did I get kidney disease? A lot of people have asked me how I got my kidney disease. Specifically, it’s called Focal Segmental Glomelular Sclerosis. or FSGS. Just google FSGS and you’ll get a ton of info. It’s basically scarring of the filtering tubes in your kidney. These are classic signs of kidney failure, hence the need for me to start dialysis. It’s a major life changer – but it’s so worth the time and effort to feel bette...August 12, 2015.

This is in preparation for dialysis (should I ever need it). I don’t need it right now, this is basically a preparation step “just in case”. Creatinine is a chemical waste product that kidneys filter out of your body. Creatinine level in blood can show the severity of kidney disease. Also my doc liked my numbers so much that he said to come back in 2 months… Instead of the recent norm of 1 month. I’m hoping to clip that 3.0 creatinine barrier next time. Fingers crossed! The BIG news though – which makes this whole thing as “real” as possible, is he’s referring me to a surgeon to get an Arteriovenous Fistula. So the next plan is – see the vein surgeon, get the AV Fistula procedure done, continue my prescribed medication, and see my nephrologist in another month to continue monitoring my kidney function.
