I was in the shade of a non-rain cloud, so the sand looks dark.) That cloud looked several miles tall! And it appeared to be really dumping some rain into the Gulf for a good 45 minutes or so. Because The Baking Aisle was already taken. Whole Wheat Apple Raisin Bread. Move over, Carrot-Pineapple Bread! Your place in the Breakfast Bread Hall Of Fame has just been usurped by a fabulous breakfast bread from King Arthur Flour: Whole Wheat Apple Raisin Bread. ( Better pic. And here’s a pic of the inside of a little muffin I made from the batter so I could have a taste. Very moist. Quite delicious. I found this recipe. Sparkling sugar on the top instead of just one of them. Since it’s a new re...

Salty-Sweet Butter Pecan Cookies – The Baking Isle

https://thebakingisle.wordpress.com/2013/02/06/its-cookie-time

Because The Baking Aisle was already taken. Salty-Sweet Butter Pecan Cookies. Time for a cookie? So today I made a recipe that I haven’t made in ages. Salty-Sweet Butter Pecan Cookies. Found the recipe. On the King Arthur Flour website. They have really nice quality recipes – have a look. So back to the cookies – it’s a pretty easy recipe. It calls for both butter and shortening, but I used all butter and no shortening. Cuz who wants to eat shortening? February 6, 2013. June 8, 2016. You are commenting u...

Because The Baking Aisle was already taken. Tired of the same old brownies? Not that anyone would turn down a brownie, but if you’re up for some. Here are two ways that I recently tried to make something different with brownie mix. They both turned out great! FIRST WAY: Walnut Brownie Bites with Ganache. Go to Bed Bath and Beyond, and get yo’sef a Brownie Bite Pan (or you can order it from Amazon.) It looks like this, and it’s made by USA Pan:. SECOND WAY: Chocolate Caramel Cookies. April 27, 2013. My Baking Isle Rant – The Baking Isle

https://thebakingisle.wordpress.com/my-baking-isle-rant

Because The Baking Aisle was already taken. My Baking Isle Rant. Oh my gosh. OH MY GOSH! I went to the grocery store today to pick up a few things, and this, of course, involved a trip to the Baking Aisle. But there is a problem. My grocery store doesn’t have a normal baking aisle. And this is a big store, in a large. Which I will not name, but they can’t put together a baking aisle? How’s a girl supposed to BAKE when she can’t find BAKING ITEMS? What is this – the Miscellaneous Aisle? When I finally reg...

short + rose: January 2013

http://roseam21.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Friday, January 11, 2013. Chrimas and New Year in pictures. We spent New Year's Eve at home, it was cold and rainy and generally gross outside. For dinner we ordered takeout from Gus's and I made a flourless chocolate cake for dessert. I bought some silly hats and sparklers too. We lit the sparklers on the front porch and George found them pretty fascinating. 2012 really blessed us and I hope that 2013 will be just as kind! My other blog about the trials and tribulations of infertility. Burbs and the Bees.

Sunday, November 18, 2012. I finished the Molly hat, just in time for cooler weather. It's very fall, from the persimmon/cinnamon color of the yarn to the cable and textured stitches. Normally it wouldn't have taken me more than a week to knit but it's harder for me to find knitting time so it took about twice that. The pattern is well-written and I'd definitely use it again. For my next project, which will probably take forever to complete, I cast on the Estelle sweater. Monday, November 12, 2012. Hi I&...

Tuesday, October 02, 2012. A new fall hat yarn p*rn. Hudson and the color is Cinnamon but I think it reminds me of a persimmon. I bought it at Happy Knits. And they have some other really lovely colors. For the pattern I pulled the Molly. Hat out of my Ravelry queue. So far it's knitting up really quickly and has a super easy pattern, which is great for my addled brain. These gorgeous skeins are what I got with this round of the Madelinetosh Magnolia Club. This first is Tosh Merino Light in Astrid Gray:.

Monday, June 25, 2012. It's been very warm so the garden has been growing pretty well. We also had two days of heavy rainfall last week which probably kicked things into gear too. Some of the wildflowers have started to bloom, even though the Morning Glory looks like it's threatening to choke out a few of them. The two happy squash plants are producing tiny baby squash. The other two plants seem to be growth-stunted. Wednesday, June 20, 2012. The shelves we were going to make ended up not being made....

Thursday, June 13, 2013. A delicious dinner of moscato, prosciutto, genoa salami, brie, and smoked cheddar. Eaten around the coffee table. Pizza from Hog and Hominy. I *finally* got to go there, met a friend for lunch and it was delicious. I am going to have to drag Doug there, it might be a little too hip for his tastes. Strawberry Chocolate ice box cake (recipe here). Happy baby in a sink. Unhappy baby going to see Stingray Bay at the Memphis Zoo (his pointing finger is killing me). Burbs and the Bees.

Thursday, July 25, 2013. Claire DeWitt and the City of the Dead. Claire DeWitt and the Bohemian Highway. Plus Doug and I listened to Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls. By David Sedaris on the way to/from the beach. I heard about the Claire DeWitt books via NPR books. Snapper was another book I heard about on NPR, it was described as a 'love letter to Indiana' . It's also a series of shorter stories with the same narrator/character, a style I usually might dislike but it works here. Get Stitchy with Sarah.

Leah's Tastee Trek. Join Me As I Eat Through Gibson's Donuts Menu. June 28, 2016. Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors. No doughnut analysis this week. I was out of town this weekend, and due to a flight delay (caused by a malfunctioning air conditioner on the plane), I got home past my bedtime. It wasn’t past Gibson’s bedtime, though – they’re always open, which is another reason to love that place. According to one news report, however, people were throwing some doughnuts off the roof. So I’m down to one doughnut per weekend: my birthday is coming up, and I want to save room for Tastee Birthday Cake. This past weekend, I stopped at Gibson’s on my way home from church. I noticed a new flavor: Orange Cream (or Orange Dream? The photo does not do justice to the light peachy-orangey color. And can you see how creamy the glaze is? I think we call all learn ...

Leah's Tastee Trek. Join Me As I Eat Through Gibson's Donuts Menu. October 3, 2016. So simple, so perfect: the doughnut hole. I visited some friends this weekend and didn’t want to show up empty-handed (like Momma taught me), so I brought along some doughnut holes:. Bag o’ mouth-watering goodness. Is very hard to resist. Mr DeWeese, the owner, chatted with me about A&M football while I waited (I was wearing my MidSouth A&M Club. Gibson’s fall flavors are OUT, y’all! Pumpkin and pink icing. October 1, 2016.

TheBakingLaboratory | Bake It Like You Mean It

Bake It Like You Mean It. Lemon and Courgette Muffins. July 2, 2016. So, using vegetables in baking and making delicious cakes, muffins, cupcakes and so on has become more and more popular. One of our favourite cafés in Oxford,. The muffins stay moist for a longer time, and are quite refreshing and not too sweet. They are also dairy free! I would recommend to let them sit for a day, as on the second day, they were even better (in my opinion at least). Baking time: 20 minutes. 400 g courgettes, grated.
