The Bangkok Buzz

Thursday, June 30, 2011. The time has come to say farewell to Bangkok after an amazing two years of calling the city home. In this final blog I will reflect briefly on my time in Thailand accompanied by photos taken from the Baiyoke Tower, the tallest building in Thailand, which I paid a visit to this week. In the distance you can see the big bend in the Chao Phraya river and the "Lungs of Bangkok" a green belt on the inside of the bend. On a clear day they say that you can see the Gulf of Thailand b...

The Bangkok Buzz: Chatuchak Park

http://thebangkokbuzz.blogspot.com/2011/06/chatuchak-park.html

Friday, June 17, 2011. Chatuchak is most famous for its weekend market, a must visit tourist attraction in Bangkok. However located adjacent to the market is another, less tourist visited site which is one of those special places in the city. It is the green space which includes three parks; Chatuchak, Queen Sirikit and Wachirabenchatat. The parks in Bangkok are very popular places to walk, jog, sleep or just hang out. In a city as busy and noisy as this they are like an oasis. June 17, 2011 at 5:32 PM.

The Bangkok Buzz: February 2011

http://thebangkokbuzz.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 28, 2011. Images of Bangkok 4. In this week's blog we look at some of the mysteries that are Bangkok. Mystery #1: What you can do with a motorbike. The first photo must be the garbage collector. The second shows man with his shop. The third is just amazing - don't know how this guy can see where he is going on Bangkok's busiest street. Mystery #8 How construction never stops even though so many people have been scared away from Bangkok after the demonstrations. Mystery #9 Why there are s...

The Bangkok Buzz: December 2010

http://thebangkokbuzz.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Sunday, December 19, 2010. Although it is the capital city of Laos, Vientiane is nothing like the crowded, chaotic South-East Asian cities that most people are familiar with. It is a laid back, relaxed sort of place. One of the former Kings greets you on the road from the airport into the city. You don't hear too much about the Kings these days; they don't quite fit the politics of modern Laos. There are the usual array of Wat such as the two below. Sunday, December 12, 2010. Laos - Luang Prabang Part 2.

The Bangkok Blog

Goings on in the Big Mango - A view from Bangkok buses. Tuesday, June 01, 2004. My, my . . . three months already in Thailand! Time to cross the border into Cambodia, pay 1200 baht for a tourist visa there, and come back over for another three months of legal residence in Siam. The form asks for a picture. Oh crap! No problem, Tom" he says grandly. I've told him my name is Tim a dozen times, but I'll let it slide this time. I wonder if Lila gets to eat much fruit? I decided I’d better high-tail it over t...

THE BANGKOK BLOG | she awoke to the sounds of construction…

She awoke to the sounds of construction…. She kept laughing at me – though I was by no means in a funny mood. Downright angry and sluggish more like – hence the massage in the first place. She sat me down upon the latrine and showered my feet down with an ugly hose as I winced in sensitive tickle: “Jokatee? 8221; she asked, laughing. 8220;jokatee”, I agreed. 8217; I joked with her. Again, a raucous laugh as she pointed to the butt-pocket sitting comfortably across my crotch:. 8216;my style, my style!
