The Bearded Angler: January 2016
http://www.thebeardedangler.com/2016_01_01_archive.html
Tales from the lakes, rivers and streams. Thursday, 28 January 2016. There was a flurry of action late in the afternoon as a few vehicles came roaring by, one of which was on tracks. Our screens lit up with marks at all different depths and we proceeded to hammer fish for over 30 minutes. A 14.25 inch goldeye was my highlight of that flurry, no tank walleye but a few eaters as well. Tuesday, 5 January 2016. A Good Start to the New Year. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Tales from the lakes, rivers and streams. Tuesday, 24 May 2016. There and Back Again. Just over an hours drive southwest of Winnipeg is one of the last drive ins left in the province. Family owned and operated, the Stardust Drive In has been around for many years and has worked hard to keep up with the changing times. Spending a night under the stars with that special someone or the whole family catching a movie is an experience that shouldn't be missed out on. Tuesday, 17 May 2016. Monday, 16 May 2016.
The Bearded Angler: October 2016

Tales from the lakes, rivers and streams. Saturday, 22 October 2016. Something to write home about (part 2). Had the stars had aligned? Was the water temperature just right? Was a shift in the weather on it's way? Monday, 17 October 2016. Something to write home about (part 1). We agreed I would get my wife back to the motel and then Justin and I would spend the remainder of the day fishing the local trout lake in town. It's known for big rainbows and browns and a little snow wasn't going to keep me ...

Tales from the lakes, rivers and streams. Friday, 19 June 2015. 21 Hours of Fishing Part 2. As the evening came we knew it was getting near our departure time so we hit the two most productive spots of the day once more. My last fish ended up being a personal best 19.5 inches and I was truly content with the days events. The numbers were unbelievable, weather unpredictable and a trip that far exceeded our expectations was in the books. Sunday, 14 June 2015. 21 Hours of Fishing Part 1. 21 Hours of Fishing...

Bass on the Golf Course. Tales of a Suburban Kid, on the water and Waving a Stick. New Jersey Freshwater Fishes. Pennsylvania Freshwater Fish Species. Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Bass on the Fly (On the Golf Course). On the way there, I came across an interesting phenomenon: A line of dead plants advancing on fresh, green ones. Everything on the dead side was completely dead, while the other side had the very opposite. Odd. perhaps a disease? Almost immediately a big bluegill inhaled my fly. I have no ...

Bass on the Golf Course. Tales of a Suburban Kid, on the water and Waving a Stick. New Jersey Freshwater Fishes. Pennsylvania Freshwater Fish Species. Friday, October 24, 2014. It made a run under the dock in a final attempt to get free. I hoisted the fish up, and there it was, the trashing, toothy, chain pickerel. A beautifully patterned chain pickerel. Bass on the Golf Course. Tales of a Suburban Kid, on the water and Waving a Stick. New Jersey Freshwater Fishes. Pennsylvania Freshwater Fish Species. Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Stocked trout are pretty dumb. But after a lot of pressure from anglers, they can get wary. And to get skunked every time. It took about 5 minutes with the Powerbait. Also my first trout in NJ, and I live here. I've caught trout in Washington, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee, but none in my home state). This fish went right on my strin...

Bass on the Golf Course. Tales of a Suburban Kid, on the water and Waving a Stick. New Jersey Freshwater Fishes. Pennsylvania Freshwater Fish Species. Monday, December 8, 2014. I've finished some larger scale paintings this past couple of weeks. One is an acrylic painting of a shad I caught on the Raritan River, my header pic, and another more contemporary oil painting of mackerel at a fish market. I actually started the shad painting in early July, but never got around to finishing it until recently.

Fishing Where it's Warm (Florida). I've neglected this blog for a couple months now, mainly because I haven't gotten much fishing in, and have been really busy with just about everything else in my life. Bluefish, Mackerel, and SPECIES #50! It may not look that bad, but it was pretty windy out there. 8 ft waves were present. We got to the spot just as other party boats were arriving. I found it interesting that there were about six different boats spread out in the same general area. Anther was a regular on this boat, and he brough...

And some other awesome stuff). Recently, I got my hands on some sampling reports from the Millstone River near my home. Like I said, eels are slimy. It was qui...

TV/Media Commentary and Societal Insights. With a Beard. So, what’s the deal with gay people, anyway? On June 26, 2012. After showing this conversation to a few of my friends, I’ve been told that my response might actually be beneficial to publish and share online, for people who a) Want to see how I handled someone hell-bent on believing homosexuality (or any non-straight orientation, I guess) is a choice; or b) Are legitimately interested in what the deal with gay people is, or something.
