Monday, 17 August 2015. Great Crested Grebe on the River Stort! River Stort and Thorley Wash Nature Reserve - 4th Aug 15. Warm, cloudy with a stiff breeze. Essex Skipper, Large White, Meadow Brown, Peacock, Ringlet, Small White Butterflies. Azure, Banded Demoiselle, Common Blue damselflies. Brown Hawker, Common Darter, Emperor, Migrant Hawker, Ruddy Darter dragonfly. 7 and 14-spot Ladybirds; Bluebottle; Dock Bug; Flesh Fly; Hoverfly; Pond Skater; Red-tailed Bumble Bee; Slug; White-tailed Bumble Bee.

Sunday, 27 July 2014. Fishers Green, Cheshunt - 3rd July, 14. Hottest day of the year, so far. Mercifully cool breeze. Comma, Green-veined White, Large Skipper, Meadow Brown, Red Admiral, Ringlet, Small Tortoiseshell, Small White Butterflies. Hoverflies; Mayfly; Midges; Red-tailed Bumble Bee; Scorpion Fly; Soldier Beetle. Azure, Banded Demoiselle, Blue-tailed, Common Blue, Red-eyed Damselflies; Black-tailed Skimmer, Brown Hawker, Common Hawker, Emperor. On the journey down I saw a pair of Little Egrets.

Quite warm. 7, 12, 16-spot and Harlequin Ladybird and Larvae; Bluebottle; Flesh Fly; Hoverfly; Midge; Mint Leaf Beetle; Pond Skater; Red-tailed Bumble Bee; Soldier Beetle; Thick-kneed Flower Beetle. Brimstone, Comma, Gatekeeper, Green-veined White, Holly Blue, Large White, Meadow Brown, Peacock, Small White butterflies. Cinnabar moth caterpillars. The day started well, listening to Blackcap. A few Common Terns.

Tuesday, 30 December 2014. A Cold, Crisp Day at Fishers Green! Fishers Green, Cheshunt - 10th December, 14. Bright, sunny, clear skies. Cold wind. Fox; Grey Squirrel; Muntjac. It was a lovely, sunny day. Clear skies with a cold, biting wind. But I had my secret weapon on today, a lovely warm scarf. There was nothing much to be seen until I arrived at Friday Lake. Looking out I could see about 4 or 5 Great Crested Grebes. Swimming around; a lone female Pochard. And the usual Gulls. View from the Teal Hide.
