Brains: Not just for zombies. The work and play of a psychology professor. Thursday, January 31, 2013. Last time, I mentioned that I wanted to try something new with my "Learning and Memory" class. They have a paper due at each exam which essentially requires them to summarize the notes, give a real-life example of the concepts, and then describe how this can help them in their future careers. I was sitting outside on a beautiful sunny afternoon eating lunch when my lunch partner, who also owns his own business, asked "Do you Love your job? My response was "Yes, I really Like what I do for a living" He responds, "But, do you LOVE what you do? I was taken back. What the hell kind of a question was that? I was insulted. Didn't he know how hard one works to be able to work for yourself? I didn't say "YES! A Job, it requires Work!
