Welcome to it…. Last Week of Maternity Leave…. So this is it. I am nearing the end of the last week of what my Dear Husband refers to as my “paid holiday”. Come Monday morning I shall be, once again, one of the thousands of cold, sleepy workers making their way to their place of employment. I am going back to work. But that, the guilt, is what makes me really angry (* WARNING: I am getting on my soapbox* ). No-one has ever made working fathers feel guilty! It only gets worse if I mention that I am actual...

Welcome to it…. Hello, it has been a while…. Hi, remember me? I started this blog and then life caught up with me. Yeah, yeah, I know… but could we hang out again? It has been a tough year and it would be great to talk…. So, 2016 was quite a year, was it not? Bowie Prince. Wogan. Rickman, Wood, and most recently, Cohen…to name but a few significant losses. Each day I started to dread hearing the news in case another one died. But in the meantime the UK held a referendum on membershi...But life goes inevi...

Slow-Roast Pork Belly with Cider Gravy. December 27, 2013. Remember when we made this pork adobo. We cut our piece of pork belly in half and chucked half in the freezer with a vague intention to roast it, and that’s exactly what we did! A piece of pork belly, around 350g. 1/2 tsp fennel seeds. 1 tsp sea salt. Roughly chopped vegetables, we used carrots, onion and a parsnip but celery would be good too – use anything you have lying around. 1 tsp olive oil. 300-400g celeriac, peeled and roughly cubed.
