Swingin' on a Star: August 2005
http://halfmileupriver.blogspot.com/2005_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 30, 2005. Blast from the Past. The little twinkles and I had lunch with Grammie Imelda (so named for her summer footwear fetish) today. She asked us to stop at my elementary school, pick something up, and drop it off at her office. No problem, except I must write an entry some time on how completely inappropriate the term "stay-at-home-mom" is. I digress. Posted by Momma Star at 9:02 PM. Links to this post. Tuesday, August 23, 2005. In a black and far off corner of my mind. Monday, August...

Grateful Redhead: May 2006
http://gratefulredhead.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 03, 2006. Our momentous decision has been made. In the tradition of most momentous decisions in our family, this one was decided by rochambeau. As my children say, three times is fair. Yes, after days of emotional deliberation it came down to rock beating scissors. You can't argue with that. Rochambeau is the way to go. What a relief to have that out of the way. Swingin' on a Star: December 2005

Friday, December 30, 2005. These are the Backyardigans. Yes, take a moment to appreciate the irony of a television show about playing in the backyard. The music in this show is actually. And since Nickelodeon cannot air a show without marketing the hell out of it, the Backyardies have just released a cd. How very twenty-first century of them. Posted by Momma Star at 9:35 AM. Swingin' on a Star: September 2005
http://halfmileupriver.blogspot.com/2005_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 27, 2005. If I haven't mentioned already, Boy Star has an unusual attachment to Grammie Imelda. A good thing, as far as that goes, but quite hilarious. She spent the day with us Sunday. She played video games and pushed toy cars around, and hand fed the kid, and spoiled him at the store. And when it was time for her to go, in his best Scarlett impression, he wailed," No don't go! Take me with you! I think I should be offended, but I can't seem to quite get worked up. Swingin' on a Star: November 2005
http://halfmileupriver.blogspot.com/2005_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 29, 2005. Boy Star has developed quite the imagination. He is also quite adept at expressing himself. BS: What's for dinner tonight? BS: I don't want pasketti. I don't like it. MS: I didn't ask if you like it. I told you what's for dinner. BS: That's not fair, mommy. MS: Fair's a place you take your pig, baby. BS: No mommy. You go to the fair all by yourself. And take your noodles with you. Don't talk on the phone. It'll kill you. I don't want you to get killed.". Links to this post.

Swingin' on a Star: July 2005
http://halfmileupriver.blogspot.com/2005_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, July 30, 2005. So now I blog. All the cool kids are doing it. Yeah mom, I know, bridges and all that. Daddy Star is betting dollars to doughnuts I'll quit this in a month. Any takers? Keep in mind, he has firsthand knowledge of the partially-stenciled kitchen, partially-sewn Christmas stockings, partially-scrapped scrapbooks, and half-embroidered baby blanket for Baby Star, who'll quickly reach the half-year mark. Hello to the cool kids. Posted by Momma Star at 6:31 PM. Links to this post.

Grateful Redhead: October 2006
http://gratefulredhead.blogspot.com/2006_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 16, 2006. I've been craving cookies for a couple of weeks now. Not just any cookies, but my mom's oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. They are devine, with just a dash of nutmeg that gives them a unique flavor. Saturday morning the kids were home and I had some time to make cookies. The dough was delish. I made just over 4 dozen cookies. I had them spread out on the kitchen counter cooling when we headed out to soccer games. The cookies were gone. All four dozen of them. Well, all but...A 30-...

Monday, September 18, 2006. There must be some mistake. I received an email today from an old high school pal. Please update me with your address and phone number. I'm getting ready to send out the first mailing for our 20th reunion! Um, there must be some mistake. My 20th high school reunion can't possibly be coming up. That would make me.old. I'm not that old. Really, I'm not. Somebody must have the dates confused. Posted by Grateful Redhead @ 11:20 AM. So I went home for two funerals. A 30-something f...

Grateful Redhead: August 2006

Sunday, August 20, 2006. Death seems to have a way of sneaking up on us, even when we're expecting it. Or should be expecting it. My grandmother, who is 92, had a severe stroke nearly two weeks ago. I know that she has had a long life. I know that this is part of the circle of life. I know that it woud be better for her to pass on than to live in a world where she cannot swallow, cannot speak, and must rely on machines for her daily existence.
