Not Your Mama's Kitchen. An Interview with South African Gourmet Baker Kari Mansfeld. February 12, 2012. Have you ever eaten something so good it stopped you in your tracks? When I was at the Fancy Food Show earlier this year I tasted one of the most incredible things in the world. It was Kari’s South African Tea Cake from Kari’s Desserts. Kari was encouraged to start a business to sell the desserts she made for her friends and family at dinner parties. What got you interested in the food industry? When ...
Steamed Cod with Citrus Chili Glaze | The Blakery
https://theblakery.wordpress.com/2012/05/28/steamed-cod-with-citrus-chili-glaze
Not Your Mama's Kitchen. Steamed Cod with Citrus Chili Glaze. May 28, 2012. I’m one of those people who gets very excited about ideas. One weekend on a Saturday Jacob and I were running errands and I decided it was the day I was going to make my first steamed fish. I was very excited with the notion of a new kitchen tool–a steamer! I don’t generally cook cod, but I had heard of its mild flavor and dense, flaky white meat- -it’s used to make cod liver oil. Steamed baby bok choy and a side of chutney.

A quest for balance, fitness and happiness. 2012 the year of productivity. Food is a weapon →. Don’t buy this jacket! January 26, 2012. New years resolution number 2: don’t buy this jacket (or dress or coat or cardigan or skirt or anything else) without really thinking about it first. Everyday I receive emails offering huge discounts or walk past shops with signs like this. One of those is the Patagonia Common Threads Initiative. I’m hoping 2012 will really become the year of eco-cycology,. You are comme...

baysiderunner: Tales from the Trail
http://baysiderunner.blogspot.com/2012/03/tales-from-trail.html
Living, running, and dreaming by the bay. Tuesday, March 20, 2012. Tales from the Trail. Although I've only been training for my first ultra-marathon. For about a month, I've learned a lot about trail running so far. Here's the top 10:. 1 I need to eat more on trail runs. While I can run 14 miles on the road fueled by only 2 GUs, the same rule doesn't apply on the trails. I haven't figured out the exact best formula for my body's needs, but what I've been doing so far isn't enough. 7 The woods are not fu...

Living, running, and dreaming by the bay. Tuesday, February 14, 2012. Running: A Love Story. Our night of passion was short-lived, however, and I am sad to say that except for a few fleeting encounters on tree-lined country roads during my senior year (remember the autumn leaves? Weren’t they glorious? We wouldn’t meet again feet to road for another eleven years. Running, I am so glad that I found you again, and I don’t plan to ever let you go. Even if I can no longer run an 8 minute mile, or c...Just a ...

http://baysiderunner.blogspot.com/2012/11/running-writing.html
Living, running, and dreaming by the bay. Friday, November 2, 2012. I haven't been writing. I've always been a writer in that I love language and I love how seemingly random words can connect to tell a story. However, most of that writing takes place in my head, rather than on paper or on a computer screen. Does it still count as writing if it's not written down? Ok then, I am simply a story-teller who hasn't been telling her stories recently, but that doesn't mean I haven't been creating stories to tell.

Living, running, and dreaming by the bay. Friday, April 27, 2012. Race Recap: Hollywood Half Marathon. It's been almost a month since I ran the Hollywood Half Marathon;. Hopefully I can remember the details! Complete with rainbow striped leg-warmers. To be honest, I was a little hesitant to wear this skirt. Not only had I never worn a running skirt before, but this one was short! She dropped me off about 5:30, and as I watched her drive away, I realized I had left my water bottle and GU in the car! For t...

Saturday, October 24, 2009. Well, I finally got sick of looking at our name at the bottom of everybody's blog list so I decided to post a little something about the past year so we could be at the top for a day. John's heel is recovering slowly. It will be a year next month and he gets a little frustrated with it slowing him down but it is still getting a little better each week. His right foot is a little longer now with the lump on the back but he seems to make his boots work somehow. We also had anoth...
