When you're a new writer. Write your first draft. Read the sort of book you're trying to write. Check every sentence to make it the best it can be. Fix the typos and check the spelling. Look up facts you thought you knew and check them. Give it to some trusted readers who are familiar with your style of book. Assess their comments and adjust accordingly. When at least two sensible adults who aren't related to you say that your book is ready, THEN you can think about taking it to the next level.
