From Congo to Colonie. In My Father’s House. Day 7: LCC’s DAT Trip – 8 Days of Hope. June 3, 2012. How to add to sleeplessness that comes from early mornings, 4-inch mattresses, and giggling teenage girls coming in late? Well, let’s see. How about the air base across the river that conducted some exercise last night around midnight where we thought paratroopers were landing on top of our cabin? Or how about the smoke alarm that started chirping at 3:30 am due to a low battery? We were all wide awake by 5.

The setting for our visit, with Amish buggies rumbling by and a nearby Catholic shrine, only reinforced the oddity that we were two Congo girls meeting for the first time in 38 years. After skimming over our history and my intrigue over her converting to Catholicism (for us Protestant types isn’t it supposed to be the other way around? What was that something? None of these ...

In My Father's House. From Congo to Colonie. April 27, 2012. First, allow me to tell you about my annoyance. Please. Indulge me. See that list of books below? See the different wacko fonts and point sizes? Do you know how much time I spent trying to get it all to look the same? Talk about an inefficient use of time. In My Father's House. From Congo to Colonie. Since my return at the moment is pretty near impossible (unless I take out Kony), I write about Rethy. It’s the best catharsis for my yearning for the source of every childhood joy. Even more important than Rethy, now, however, is this current project: to erect ‘standing stones’ for missionaries who gave their lives during the Simba Rebellion in obedience to their Lord and Master, Jesus.
