TT 820: Finalement!
http://tt820.blogspot.com/2014/05/finalement.html
Sunday, May 18, 2014. My sweater projects tend to be endurance runs rather than sprints. I got this yarn as a gift. In August 2013 and it took me forever to figure out how to use it (including an emergency shipment of extra yarn from France). I worked on CustomFit measurements. Throughout the fall. On December 30, I cast on – and I finished the final seam on April 30, 2014. Four months for the knitting, longer for the gestation. I follow Amy Herzog’s advice and made my first CustomFit. 17 rows from the l...

TT 820: Coming around again
http://tt820.blogspot.com/2015/07/coming-around-again.html
Wednesday, July 29, 2015. The wheel has been turning! I’ve been slowly spinning this gorgeous stuff since February, according to my notes. It is Polwarth/silk (85/15) that I bought at MDSW in 2012. From Misty Mountain Farm in Virginia. The color is Blue Spruce. I had 2 braids (so, 8 oz total) and now I have a lot of yarn. This is kind of a lot of yarn. I’m not sure what to do with it. It could make a pretty gigantic shawl! Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Your blue stuff is gorgeous! July 29, 2015 at 8:22 PM.

TT 820: Sock yarn stash FTW!
http://tt820.blogspot.com/2015/08/sock-yarn-stash-ftw.html
Thursday, August 6, 2015. Sock yarn stash FTW! One of the women in my exercise class just had a baby. When the call went out for small items to fill a care package, I felt a strong urge to knit a baby hat. So I did! This is the Stella Pixie Hat. Which I’ve knit before. The first one was a huge hit with the mom and the whole baby shower crew, so I thought I’d make it again. The first time it only took 35 grams of leftover sock yarn, so I went looking for a similar quantity. I hope that this baby has the t...

TT 820: Jacob have I loved
http://tt820.blogspot.com/2014/11/jacob-have-i-loved.html
Tuesday, November 4, 2014. Jacob have I loved. You may have noticed I’ve been on a bit of a longdraw kick, spinning-wise. The day after Spinzilla ended, I picked up my last ball of roving in stash (roving prep is needed for a true woolen spun yarn). It was the light brown ball in this photo:. I got both of these from the Jacob Sheep Conservancy. Booth back at MDSW 2010 (I know! This yarn is so squishy. I wish you could reach into the screen and feel it:. They had a contest. Here is the rectangle with my able assistant holding it into shape:. And here is the finished hat. I didn’t knit the neckband and buttonhole as the pattern indicated; i...This hat rea...

TT 820: Gale's Art Special Secret Revealed
http://tt820.blogspot.com/2015/07/gale-art-special-secret-reveals.html
Sunday, July 26, 2015. Gales Art Special Secret Revealed. Remember this Gale’s Art. Special Secret Sock Blank I bought at MDSW earlier this year? I took this along on our trip to Europe. I knew that with all the cognitive overload and beautiful things to look at, any knitting done there would need to be autopilot knitting. So I took a vanilla sock. Now they are done! This is my standard sock but knit over 68 stitches instead of the usual 64. You can see how far I got on 64 stitches above – I th...I rippe...

TT 820: Just the yarny bits
http://tt820.blogspot.com/2015/07/just-yarny-bits.html
Sunday, July 19, 2015. Just the yarny bits. We’ve returned from a Trip of a Lifetime vacation to Europe. What started as a relatively simple plan to visit France with some friends who spend part of each year there morphed into an itinerary that included France, Austria, Germany, and Iceland. And while I didn’t totally intend to buy yarn everywhere I went, I ended up doing so. This is the place where Nathalie bought me that grey yarn that became my first Custom Fit sweater…remember? Want to go in? Here ar...
