Newer posts →. Trying New Foods With Kids At The Table. August 15, 2013. I made a frittata for the first time this week. I put in the last of the broccoli, the leftover potatoes, a tomato and generously sprinkled the top with cheese. I was sure to include lots of broccoli because my children love broccoli and I was hoping that their love would make them at least try a few bites. It was beautiful. Did I mention that I didn’t even put mushrooms and onions in it? My one concession to their pickiness was tha...

Kale and Brown Rice Greek Salad →. July 24, 2014. The university has a wellness program for its employees and as part of that there are monthly challenges. One of the challenges is food/nutrition-based while the other focuses on physical activity. This month the food/nutrition challenge is to drink 48 ounces of water a day. So, here’s to adding habits rather than breaking habits. The method seems effective. Cheers! This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Kale and Brown Rice Greek Salad →. New Additions t...

Drink Think →. July 18, 2014. I don’t want to write about, for instance, an entire bag of chips I ate while studying, or even think about it. And that’s part of the problem right there: I’ve been making food choices that I don’t even like without even thinking about how I don’t like them. That’s got to stop. And not posting about the takeout pizza we had for dinner. Although, Cosmic Pizza is really, really good… I think I actually would like to write about that! This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

No Bacon Sunday →. Kale and Brown Rice Greek Salad. August 3, 2014. I’m not fond of eating salads that are great piles of leaves, especially not kale. But when leafy greens are cut into a chiffonade (thin ribbons) and mixed with rice or reduced to a chopped salad I’m more than happy to consume them. Never fails. Why don’t I prep them this way more often? Kale and Brown Rice Greek Salad. 3 cups kale (about) stems removed and cut into a chiffonade. 2 cups cooked brown rice. 1/2 cup pitted kalamata olives.

Susan lives in beautiful Bozeman, MT and is a mother, a purposely unmarried wifey type thing, a customer service rep, a substitute library worker, a creator of theatre, a poet, a woman, a cooker of foods and irresponsible. In no particular order. Among other things. I say, you can’t live without food so why not live in love with food. Bozeman is a beautiful place brimming with culinary opportunity that I will be exploring through this blog. One response to “ About. December 14, 2009 at 1:54 AM. Email che...

Where Does the Time Go | Baby Blog

Where Does the Time Go. Zef has become an amazing little constructor of thoughts and sentences lately. For instance, Tuesday, while he was lounging in my bed and eating a very early morning snack, he told me, “Nafan steals my stuff.” I’m not sure how that came up, but there it was. Thought articulated. I’m not sure I’m ready for it! A Colorful Conversation →. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:. A Couple of Things I Want to Remember. Today was the new parent orientation for Nathan’s new school. Kindergarten, here we come! The boys played in the school’s gym while the parents learned a few things about the school. Zef was a little hesitant to be left there, but he ended up having a great time, of course. 8220;Oh, buddy, did you get lots of exercise at Nathan’s school and now you’re all worn out? Most pathetic little guy ever. He mulled it over for a moment, then asked me what my whole name was...

Yesterday Zef was painting when I picked him up from daycare. As I was trying to get his shoes on him, so we could get home to dinner, he proudly pointed to his painting and crowed, “Yellow! He also named the carpet color, (“Green! 8221;) and I asked him to show me his orange sock, so I could put his other shoe on him. Then I decided to challenge him a little. I asked, “What color are. There was a pause while he contemplated this question, but then he confidently chirped, “Black! Where Does the Time Go.

I’ve decided that giving them baths in the summer is pretty much pointless. But I might try tonight. Zef has started saying the word “food” the last couple of days, except he pronounces it “foof.” It’s his new favorite word and he uses it as often as he can. At the store he points and exclaims, “Foof! Before dinner he jumps up and down in the kitchen grumpily yelling, “Foof! At the dinner table, through a mouthful of spaghetti, it’s, “Mmmmm… foof… nummy foof…”. Starting next week we’re all going to...

Nathan is the red dot in the background. Tonight was the last Family and Graduate Housing barbecue. Nathan got to play with his buddy and Zef was pretty sure he was getting away with something when we let him run around on the grass. We had to abandon the last bit of Zef’s cheeseburger because a couple of aggressive hornets laid claim, but other than that, we had a lot of fun. And now it’s bath time because those boys have gone too long without a bath! Nothin’ Cuter Than… →. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.
Bedtime? Soon, right? | Baby Blog

Mike is headed home to be with his family while they say goodbye to his grandma tomorrow, so I’m on my own for the night before the first day of school and day care. These boys had a pretty busy day and both of them are tired. Me too, in fact. We’re having a bit of t.v., then off to bed. I’m so grateful for my little family, especially my Mike, who shares the responsibilities of raising our boys. Two kids to two parents is a good ratio. We’re going to miss daddy while he’s away. August 2, 2015. Today is the final day of my wellness challenge. I’ve tried to go meat-free several times this week and failed. But today is my last chance and I’m determined to make it work. Which means no bacon. Cantaloupe is not the best bacon substitute, but it’ll have to do for today. I made it through breakfast–I’ll make it the whole day. Kale and Brown Rice Greek Salad. August 3, 2014. Kale and Brown Rice Greek Salad. 3 cups kale (about) stems removed and cut into a chiffonade. Juice of one lemon.
